Electrical Instrumentation Technician

Location: Midlands/South Region - mobile role

Duration: Permanent

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5.30pm

of the Role:

The Technician is responsible for responding to the day to day issues that occur on sites, carrying out planned and unplanned Maintenance on equipment with minor project work and to provide support to the Maintenance manager.

Day to Day of the Role:

  • Carry out assigned tasks and duties in a safe manner, in accordance with instructions and to comply with safety rules, procedures, regulations and codes of practice.

  • Investigate operational issues / system defects to determine the source of the failure and the most appropriate corrective action in order to safely return an item back to operational service.

  • Liaise with and oversee contractors on site to monitor their activities, ensuring safety, compliance and quality of work is maintained at all times.

  • Perform routine testing and servicing of operational equipment across all sites, ensuring traceability by recording the test results in the Computer based Maintenance Management System.

  • Carry out inspection and servicing of instrumentation & electrical equipment, providing reports and recommendations.

  • Ideally a minimum 3-5 years’ experience in maintenance and calibration of processing plants/ equipment, preferably within the water and wastewater industry which will include the installation and maintenance of electrical instrumentation systems.

  • Electrical technical knowledge is mandatory.

  • Ability to work as part of a team and lone working.

  • Carry out assigned tasks and duties in a safe manner, in accordance with instructions and to comply with safety rules, procedures, regulations and codes of practice.

  • Investigate operational issues / system defects to determine the source of the failure and the most appropriate corrective action in order to safely return an item back to operational service.

  • Train and mentor apprentices and other members of the Engineering team as required.

  • Complete all identified and relevant training requirements to meet Company and legislative and standards and undertake training in other related activities in order to develop multi-skilling capabilities.

Required Skills for the Role:

  • Experience in similar roles and similar to role responsibilities. Electrical trade or equivalent qualification in electrical engineering and instrumentation.

  • Experience as an electrical / instrumentation / control technician or engineer

  • Experience working in a water treatment / wastewater treatment / process plants

  • Experience with SCADA/DCS/PLCs/Hard wired control systems / industrial electrics
