Job Description

The Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) CM Supervisor is assigned to a project as a member of the Construction Team, with responsibility for the safe, compliant, and timely execution of electrical and GMP-critical instrumentation scopes in regulated pharmaceutical and biotechnology facilities.

Supervises and manages electrical and instrumentation works across process systems, clean utilities, and GMP cleanroom environments, including trades, contractors, and specialist sub-contractors.

The role ensures that E&I construction activities supporting process equipment, clean utilities, building systems, and cleanrooms are delivered in accordance with Safety and Quality standards, GMP requirements, approved design documentation, control estimates, contracts, SOPs, WIs, and applicable regulatory and industry standards.

The position supports the full lifecycle from pre-construction through mechanical completion, testing, and system turnover, ensuring readiness for commissioning, qualification (CQV), and regulatory inspection.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs field walkdowns of electrical and instrumentation installations against approved drawings, P&IDs, instrument indices, I/O lists, loop drawings, and vendor documentation.
  • Verifies installation of instrumentation supporting process systems and clean utilities, including:
    • WFI, PW, clean steam, plant steam
    • Process gases and compressed air
    • HVAC and cleanroom environmental monitoring systems
    • Process skids, vessels, and packaging equipment
  • Confirms correct installation, tagging, and orientation of GMP-critical instruments, including pressure, temperature, flow, level, conductivity, and analytical devices.
  • Verifies electrical installations including cable containment, cabling, earthing/bonding, marshalling panels, junction boxes, control panels, and field devices.
  • Ensures installations comply with GMP expectations, cleanroom requirements, hazardous area classifications (ATEX where applicable), and client-specific standards.
  • Identifies and records punch list items, installation deviations, and non-conformances, categorising by system criticality and supporting efficient close-out.
  • Supports mechanical completion and system handover activities by verifying readiness for energisation, testing, and commissioning.
  • Interfaces with CQV, Automation, and Commissioning teams to support loop checks, functional testing, and issue resolution.
  • Confirms that required inspections and tests have been completed in line with approved Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
  • Reviews and verifies red-line mark-ups and as-built documentation for electrical and instrumentation systems.
  • Ensures traceability between physical installation, documentation, and turnover records for GMP-critical systems.
  • Participates in daily whiteboard meetings, E&I coordination meetings, and system handover reviews as required.
  • Supports site safety initiatives by identifying unsafe conditions, ensuring compliance with permits, LOTO, and cleanroom protocols.
  • Assists in the preparation and verification of turnover packages, including test records, certificates, and system completion documentation.
  • Escalates quality, safety, or schedule concerns to the E&I CM Supervisor in a timely manner, proposing practical solutions where possible.
  • Captures and communicates lessons learned from field execution to support continuous improvement.
  • Any other duties or responsibilities that may be assigned to you in your role.

Skills Required:

  • E&I installation inspection, field walkdowns, and verification.
  • Interpretation of P&IDs, loop drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Electrical and instrumentation systems knowledge (cabling, panels, field devices).
  • GMP, cleanroom, and ATEX compliance awareness.
  • Punch listing, quality control, and documentation management.
  • Mechanical Completion, commissioning, and CQV/loop check support.
  • Strong safety focus (Permit to Work, LOTO).
  • Effective communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.

Education / Licenses / Certifications:

  • Trade qualification in Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) / Instrumentation, or relevant Level 7/8 third-level degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Instrumentation Engineering.
  • Proof of education, licenses, and certifications will be required where applicable
