Wood is recruiting for an experience Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Engineer to join its Operations APAC (West) business focusing on a major Oil & Gas brownfields Engineering Service Contract. This is a secondment opportunity based in Brisbane at the client's office with ad hoc travel to site as required. This role is offered on an initial 6-month contract.

Reporting to the Clients Lead Electrical Engineer, you will provide on‑site Electrical Engineering support for a Major Hazard Facility, working closely with Operations, Maintenance and remote Engineering and Technical Authority teams based in Darwin & Perth. This role is heavily site‑driven, with priorities dictated by day‑to‑day operational requirements and production demands.

Your responsibilities will be:

  • Participate in Return to Plan activities
  • Respond to queries relating to E&IC maintenance and operations activities
  • Provide independent Electrical & Instrumentation Engineering support to site operations, with a strong focus on safety, compliance, and asset integrity
  • Investigate and resolve E&IC technical issues escalated by Maintenance and Operations teams
  • Identify, assess, and manage engineering and operational risks through the Incident Reporting and Risk (IRR) system, ensuring timely close‑out actions
  • Prepare and deliver Management of Change (MOC) documentation for like‑for‑like and like‑for‑kind modifications, while supporting more complex MOCs requirements
  • Apply Major Hazard Facility (MHF) requirements, ensuring compliance with Safety Cases and Performance Standards
  • Liaise with Perth‑based Technical Authorities and engineering teams to maintain governance and alignment

Expected:

You will be able to work lawfully in Australia and hold full working rights for this location.

Suitably qualified in Electrical, Controls or Electronics Engineering from a recognised institution, ideally you bring a minimum of 5+ years’ experience in Electrical Engineering within Oil & Gas ideally supporting brownfields environments in Australia and are able to work independently on site.

What will set you a part - you are based in Brisbane, with site experience.

In addition, you will have:

  • Proven on‑site Electrical Engineering experience, supporting Operations and Maintenance in an operating facility (essential)
  • Demonstrated Hazardous Area (EEHA) competency (mandatory); FSA certification will be highly regarded
  • Experience working within a Major Hazard Facility, with a strong understanding of Safety Cases, Performance Standards and regulatory requirements
  • excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with Perth‑based Engineering teams, Technical Authorities, and site personnel
  • A proactive, solutions‑focused mindset, able to respond to changing site priorities and operational demands
  • Competent computer skills, including use of engineering tools, spreadsheets and databases

Desirable:

  • Experience using SAP or other CMMS systems
  • Exposure to engineering office design support and brownfields modification activities
