Role Purpose: Electronics development (specially PCB Layout) of the Electronic Control Unit for GKN Automotive
Key Responsibilities
Develop low voltage power electronics designs for application Electronic Control Units in line with GKN platform strategy special focus on PCB Layout
Understand product design including simulations, component selection, schematic design. Layout capabilities, thermal concept, Design to Cost, and Design for Manufacturing
Create PCB designs for automotive series application based on a variety of different OEM standards.
Maintain and extend components library to supply the PCB layout.
Create and release electrical hardware design outputs from ECAD tools according to GKN processes and facilitate customer releases.
Perform and support electrical hardware product reviews regarding PCB layout and EMC optimizations.
Analyze, link, and distribute customer requirements to the electrical hardware design specially PCB layout
Create design guidelines and rule sets used throughout the development process to improve the products and designs
Follow GKN hardware engineering and interface processes according to the V Model
Formal qualifications required:
Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering
Ability to travel 5%-10% of time to external labs and other GKN facilities globally
Previous experience required:
>10 years of experience in electronics hardware design and PCB layout for automotive
applications, preferably in powertrain or chassis.
Experienced in serial designs for automotive applications
Experienced maintaining production data releases for automotive applications
Understanding of automotive and functional safety development processes
Excellent communication, teamwork
Independent worker who takes the initiative
Tool knowledge of Altium Designer and Siemens Xpedition
