Your Opportunity

An opportunity exists in our Vancouver office for an Electrical Field Services Representative to become part of a dynamic group providing professional services to our clients in the Buildings sector. This role will report to the Construction Administration (CA) Team Lead and will work collaboratively with a multi-discipline CA team.

The ideal candidate will have a strong practical understanding of electrical systems in buildings, gained through hands-on field experience (e.g., as a licensed electrician), along with a broad understanding of other building systems including structural, mechanical, and architectural.

Your Key Responsibilities

Perform day-to-day field services tasks on behalf of design professionals to ensure that projects are constructed in compliance with design intent, applicable codes, budget, and schedule.

Coordinate with design professionals, subconsultants, clients, contractors, authorities, utility providers, and field staff.

Support construction-phase coordination including constructability reviews, sequencing, and scheduling with project teams.

Manage construction administration processes and documentation through Tender, Construction, and Post-Construction phases.

Coordinate electrical-related construction activities including:

  • RFIs
  • Site instructions
  • Change orders
  • Shop drawings and submittals
  • Progress claims
  • Deficiency tracking
  • Commissioning activities
  • Closeout and warranty documentation

Review electrical shop drawings and submittals for compliance with design intent, applicable codes, and constructability, coordinating with electrical engineers as required.

Conduct regular electrical field reviews to verify installation aligns with drawings and specifications, including:

  • Power distribution systems
  • Lighting systems
  • Fire alarm systems
  • Low voltage and communication systems
  • Emergency and backup power systems

Document field observations, identify deficiencies or non-conformances, and issue reports with recommended corrective actions.

Track and review electrical change orders, contractor substitutions, and associated cost impacts.

Participate in commissioning activities and functional testing of electrical systems.

Support project close-out activities including deficiency resolution and lessons learned.

Build and maintain strong working relationships with contractors, trades, and project stakeholders.

Understand and comply with applicable electrical codes, safety standards, and regulations within the project jurisdiction.

Promote a safety-first culture in line with company health, safety, and environmental policies.

Support quality assurance and quality control processes for Construction Administration activities.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Strong ability to build rapport and credibility with contractors and site personnel.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail in documentation and coordination.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Practical, solutions-oriented mindset with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to anticipate issues on site and proactively mitigate risks.
  • Experience working on construction sites and collaborating with multiple trades.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage conflict and navigate challenging site conditions.

Education and Experience

  • Red Seal Electrician (or equivalent certification) preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in electrical construction, including significant on-site experience.
  • Experience in roles such as electrician, foreperson, site supervisor, or electrical field services representative is highly valued.
  • Familiarity with construction administration processes and documentation is an asset.
  • Typical office environment with extended periods of computer-based work.
  • Regular field work involving active construction sites and exposure to weather and site conditions.
