About this role

Carrier is seeking an Electrical Engineer, August 2023 - April 2024 Co-op to join the UTEC OEM Solutions team. The position will be based in Fort Wayne, IN USA. The co-op position provides opportunities to learn and apply engineering skills while gaining an understanding of HVAC controls development processes. The successful candidate will receive training through project assignments that will combine the technical skills acquired in college coursework with industry expertise from the UTEC OEM Solutions team.

Key Responsibilities

• Embedded hardware and/or software design
• Support new product introduction with prototype and pre-production builds
• Work as part of a team to complete end-of-line test updates for new or modified controls
• Provide sustaining support to manufacturing for end-of-life component issues
• Gain an understanding of the basics of heating ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment operation
• Root cause analysis and failure mitigation of quality issues
• Participation in design tasks and product reviews
• Learn basic principles relating to regulatory and governmental HVAC safety requirements
• Interface with team members, customers, and suppliers to support new control designs

Required Qualifications

• Pursuing Bachelor’s degree in electrical and computer engineering or related field
• 3.0 or higher GPA



Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of HVAC products (preferred but not required)
• Knowledgeable in CAD systems
