Job Description

The Electrical Engineer – IR & Power Quality Analysis will support the testing and diagnostics division by developing and reviewing Infrared (IR) Thermography reports and Power Quality Analysis (PQA) reports using data collected by field technicians. The role will also be responsible for developing project estimates and identifying corrective actions for commercial electrical systems.

This position requires strong technical expertise in electrical systems, IR thermography, and project estimating, along with the ability to analyze technical findings and translate them into clear, actionable recommendations.

Work set up: Work from home or onsite

Schedule: Monday to Friday 8AM-5PM EST

Holiday: Will follow US holidays

Responsibilities

  • Analyze field data to produce comprehensive IR Thermography and Power Quality Analysis (PQA) reports
  • Review report content, including images and readings, to ensure accuracy and consistency with field conditions
  • Verify that documented assets align with actual site equipment and conditions
  • Identify deficiencies based on testing results and collected data
  • Evaluate and prioritize recommended repairs based on severity and operational risk
  • Develop clear and actionable scopes of work for corrective actions
  • Submit finalized reports with supporting documentation and repair recommendations
  • Prepare project and service remediation estimates
  • Support the interpretation of technical data and provide practical engineering solutions
  • Collaborate with operations and engineering teams on report reviews and estimating requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in electrical engineering, IR thermography, or power quality analysis
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, switchgear, and distribution equipment is required
  • Experience in IR Thermography is required
  • Experience in Project/Bid Estimating is required
  • Experience handling commercial electrical projects is required
  • Strong analytical, reporting, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to interpret technical data and provide practical recommendations
  • Strong English verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to produce accurate technical reports

Preferred:

  • Experience with Power Quality Analysis
  • Arc Flash study and analysis experience
  • Experience using Accubid software
  • Experience working with estimation tools or custom Excel-based estimating systems
