Regal Boats is seeking an Electrical Engineer Intern to support the design, testing, and integration of electrical systems across our product line. This internship provides hands-on experience working alongside experienced engineers through various phases of the product development cycle, including concept development, prototyping, testing, and production support.

The intern will assist with electrical system design, documentation, troubleshooting, and validation while gaining exposure to marine electrical standards, manufacturing processes, and cross-functional collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Assist in the design and development of electrical systems for marine applications, including lighting, power distribution, controls, and onboard electronics.
  2. Support creation and maintenance of electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and documentation using CAD or electrical design software.
  3. Assist with testing and validation of electrical components and systems during prototype and production phases.
  4. Participate in troubleshooting electrical issues during build, testing, or field feedback.
  5. Support integration of electrical systems into new and existing boat models.
  6. Collaborate with mechanical engineers, production teams, and suppliers to ensure designs meet functional and manufacturing requirements.
  7. Help research and evaluate new electrical components, technologies, and suppliers.
  8. Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality, and design for manufacturability.
  9. Represent Regal Boats internally and externally as a professional, ethical, and responsible team member.

Required Qualifications

  1. Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
  2. Basic understanding of electrical circuits, power systems, and electronics.
  3. Familiarity with electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
  4. Experience or coursework using CAD or electrical design tools (AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical, or similar preferred).
  5. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  6. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  7. Proficiency with Google Workspace or Microsoft Office.
  8. Conversational English.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Interest in marine, automotive, or manufacturing-related electrical systems.
  2. Hands-on experience through labs, projects, or previous internships.
  3. Basic understanding of low-voltage and DC electrical systems.
  4. Familiarity with industry standards such as ABYC (a plus, not required).
  5. Passion for learning and willingness to take initiative.
  6. Strong communication and organizational skills.

Work Environment

Must be able to work in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment where ambient air temperature may exceed outside air temperature and can reach over 100 degrees Fahrenheit at times.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this role.

While performing the duties of this job, the intern may be required to stand for extended periods, bend, climb into and out of boats using stairs, and lift up to 50 pounds. The role may require working extended hours during peak project periods. Vision requirements include close vision, the ability to adjust focus, and the ability to distinguish between colors.
