Veranex is pleased to offer paid internship opportunities within our Product Design & Engineering Business Unit at our Minneapolis, Providence, and Raleigh locations. We are seeking talented and motivated students to join our teams for summer and academic-semester internships.

About This Role:

As an Electrical Engineering Intern, you will do more than observe. You will contribute to meaningful projects that support client and business objectives while gaining hands-on experience across the medical device development lifecycle. Working alongside experienced engineers and cross-functional experts, you will support the development of next-generation healthcare technologies while building the technical, analytical, and professional skills needed for a successful engineering career.

Interns are integrated into project teams and have opportunities to participate in both internal and client-facing meetings, providing exposure to consulting, product development, and collaborative problem-solving. Through mentorship, day-to-day teamwork, lunch-and-learn sessions, and networking opportunities, you will gain insight into the people, processes, and innovations driving the future of healthcare.

We are seeking students who have completed at least two years of study toward a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline and who are eager to apply their knowledge in a fast-paced consulting environment. The ideal candidate is an innovative, well-organized self-starter with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, a collaborative mindset, and a passion for advancing healthcare technology and improving patient outcomes.

What You’ll Do (with oversight):

• Maintain day-to-day communication with program managers and all appropriate program team members.
• Manage their own time and activities to meet project milestones.
• Assist in the design and development of complex electro-mechanical medical devices and equipment.
• Collaborate with software, mechanical, and design assurance engineers to develop technologies and designs.
• Develop and execute prototype testing plans and protocols
• Executing PCBA and system level tests with proper documentation.
• Do schematic and layout for small PCBAs in Altium
• Assist in compliance with medical device regulations and standards.
• PCBA or electrical component analysis to requirements and selection
• Rework of PCBAs and cables

Required Qualifications

• This is an onsite position based in our Providence facility. Interns will be fully immersed in our work environment, collaborating directly with our teams, which is an important part of the overall internship experience.
• Enrolled in an Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related Bachelor's degree program.
• Has completed 2-4 years of college-level coursework and is on track to earn a bachelor’s degree in the field.
• Basic knowledge of circuit design, common digital interfaces, analog circuit design, simulation, and debug
• Any additional experience outside of academics with complex, electro-mechanical products is a plus
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and Kicad or Altium
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to multi-task and perform a wide range of activities and do so under timelines
