Job Description

& Responsibilities

The Cryodynamic Product Electrical Engineer position functions as the technical expert in regards to the selection, design, manufacture and testing of EEE Cryodynamic motors and generators. In this position, the employee will carry out or direct any engineering tasks and analysis, verify proper application of the motor and motor components, and will perform any project assignments and testing that requires judgement in the application of standard engineering techniques and procedures.

This position will function as a lead Product Engineer specific to motor and electrical engineering aspects of projects of well-defined scope with moderate to high complexity. The position will also require technical communication with customers and suppliers as well as management of technical documentation requirements of projects.


What the Cryodynamic Product Electrical Engineer will do for every assigned project:

  • Review and approval of the motor/generator selection, in-house motor/generator specifications and drawings

  • Generate project specific external motor documentation and curves

  • Provide manufacturing support troubleshooting assembly and tests challenges

  • Disposition motor/generator manufacture and testing non-conformances

  • Act as the primary technical contact for EEE’s motor and motor component suppliers

  • Support Project Engineering team with customer motor/generator queries

Additional Tasks:

  • Generate or revise engineering standard documents specific to the design, selection, manufacture, and testing of EEE motors and generators

  • Support EEE Technical Services in diagnosing and developing solutions to field technical problems related to EEE Cryodynamic motors and generators

  • Develop and interpret electrical signature analysis and vibration analysis with respect to the motor / generator side of EEE Cryodynamic pumps and expanders

  • Participate in continuous improvement activities

  • Lead or support special development project initiatives

  • Support Technical Services on electrical field issues

  • Participate in Elliott’s corrective action process

  • Support the application engineering team on technical quotation queries specific to motor/generator design, manufacture, and testing

  • Review customer specifications and additions to industry standards

  • Use Finite Element Analysis (FEA) models or equivalent circuit models to generate motor performance curves

Professional Requirements:

  • Maintain an environment for professional and ethical conduct within EEE

  • Follow the department's work processes to achieve best-in-class contract execution for assigned projects.

  • Interface between Product Engineering and other internal Elliott departments, external clients, sub-suppliers, and third-party entities.

  • Develop technical and commercial capabilities, to allow personal development and career growth.

  • Promote a positive attitude for a safe and healthy work environment, as well as awareness for high quality products and services provided by EEE.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.

  • 5+ years experience in the manufacture, testing, and service of induction motors and generators

  • Experience and familiarity with EASA, EPRI, NEMA, IEEE, and API specifications

  • Experience in vibration analysis/electrical signature analysis such as PdMA, Baker-SKF, or Empath

  • Electrical and Mechanical aptitude and ability to interpret drawings

  • Basic computer skills: Microsoft Office Suite

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Experience:

  • 10+ years experience in the manufacture, testing, and service of induction motors and generators

  • Experience in Electromagnetic FEA tools (e.g. COMSOL, JMAG, Motor-CAD, Ansys Maxwell etc.)

  • Programming experience in MATLAB, Python, or similar

Additional Information:

  • Less than 10% Travel, Domestic and International

  • Casual overtime required

  • Position salary grade will be dependent on education and experience
