Mitsubishi Power Americas, Inc., in Lake Mary, Florida, is looking for an Electrical Engineer III.

This position is responsible for leading and designing the electrical power distribution network and signal network for the auxiliary equipment of our Gas Turbine projects. Our voltage levels are primarily in the low-voltage side (600V and below) with implementation of equipment such as MCCs, Panelboards, LV Transformers, DC Systems and Batteries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Familiarity with electrical codes, industry standards and best practices is required; Strong familiarity with National Electric Code NFPA 70 is a requirement for this position.
  • Possess current, working knowledge of electrical design for industrial facilities; power plant experience is a plus.
  • Creates detailed electrical drawings, like single-line diagrams, panelboard schedules, electrical loads lists, motors lists, feeder schematics, master cable schedules, master terminations schedules, wiring diagrams and control schematics.
  • Be able to perform calculations and sizing of electrical equipment/components (Motor Control Centers, breakers, overloads, distribution transformers, etc.), sizing of cables/conduits; equipment spacing, illumination level calculations, maintaining BOM’s, and other design duties required by complexity of project.
  • Assist in preparing equipment purchase specifications and selecting vendors to construct electrical packages.
  • Support vendors documentation review and ensure that all technical and schedule requirements are met.
  • Coordinates and communicate efficiently with other teams to ensure technical alignment and integrate electrical system into project.
  • Oversee work of electrical designers.
  • Interpret and integrate design requirements from parent company.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures reporting all unsafe activities to Management and/or Human Resources.
  • Mentors and regularly meet with less experienced engineers to provide guidance and coaching.
  • Assist in managing project schedules with minimal supervision from the project lead (engineering deliverables). Be able to identify deviations and implement changes as needed to avoid delays.
  • Ability to exercise critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to effectively multi-task and work on multiple projects
  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of employees.
  • Be able to identify bottlenecks or inefficiencies in team workflows and propose alternatives.
  • Work closely with the electrical team in implementing smart-tool standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Simplify product designs for improved manufacturability and reduce cost w/o compromising product quality and function.
  • Provide technical support during manufacturing and commissioning of equipment.
  • Travel – up to 5%.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA) in Electrical Engineering required. Minimum Five (5) years of technical and/or practical experience in industrial facility power distribution design (up to 600VAC and 220VDC). Desired Minimum Seven (7) years of experience.
  • Knowledge of NEMA, IEC, IEEE, ISA, ANSI, NFPA 70E, UL, CSA, and other codes and standards desirable.

SOFTWARE EXPERIENCE DESIRED

  • ETAP
  • SmartPlant Electrical: Expertise of the software is a plus.
  • SmartSketch: Experience/expertise with the tool is a plus.
  • SmartPlant 3D: Expertise of the software is a plus. All related to the electrical module of S3D.
