The Electrical Engineer II will independently design, prototype, test, and troubleshoot embedded electronic systems for low- to mid-complexity projects. This role will collaborate with global engineering teams, product managers, test engineering, and suppliers to deliver robust, cost-effective, and manufacturable designs. The engineer will apply platform and reuse principles, make data-driven technical decisions, and support platform designs from concept through qualification and release.

You'll be DISRUPTIVE through these duties and responsibilities:

• Independently design, prototype, test, and troubleshoot embedded electronic hardware and supporting firmware for low- to mid-complexity product and platform projects.
• Develop analog and digital circuits that may include microcontrollers, power supplies, sensors, communication interfaces, protection circuits, and signal-conditioning functions.
• Create and review schematics, support PCB layout, perform circuit simulations, and apply sound design practices for signal integrity, noise, reliability, cost, and manufacturability.
• Develop engineering requirements, test plans, procedures, and test cases for electronic components, printed circuit board assemblies, subsystems, and complete electronics platforms.
• Use laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, electronic loads, data-acquisition systems, power analyzers, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and protocol analyzers as applicable.
• Conduct experiments, analyze data using appropriate statistical methods, document results, and draw concise, logical conclusions that guide design decisions.
• Perform root-cause analysis and resolve hardware, firmware-interaction, test, and platform integration issues with urgency and disciplined problem solving.
• Evaluate technical tradeoffs and recommend solutions that balance performance, user needs, schedule, cost, reliability, regulatory compliance, and reuse capability.
• Collaborate with component suppliers and manufacturing partners to select components, address availability or quality concerns, and support successful platform launches.
• Work with cross-functional and global teams to incorporate platform-based design approaches and reusable technical solutions across product categories.
• Track assigned work to project schedules, surface risks early, and communicate status, decisions, and recommendations to technical teams and management.
• Prepare agendas, facilitate technical reviews, document decisions and action items, and deliver clear presentations to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and technicians while modeling Milwaukee Tool culture and engineering best practices.
• Build and maintain knowledge of Milwaukee Tool development and manufacturing processes to support efficient, high-quality designs.
• Support design qualification to applicable safety, EMC, wireless, and product standards based on the scope of the design.

What TOOLS you'll bring with you:

• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• 2+ years of experience in electrical or embedded hardware design, development, validation, or a closely related engineering role.
• Working knowledge of embedded systems, analog and digital circuit design, PCBA design and manufacturing, and electronics verification and validation fundamentals.
• Experience with schematic-capture, PCB-layout, and circuit-simulation tools.
• Ability to select components, review datasheets, perform engineering calculations, and translate system needs into component- and circuit-level requirements.
• Experience using standard electronics laboratory equipment and applying structured troubleshooting methods.
• Working knowledge of C programming for microcontrollers and the interaction between firmware and electronics.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to document work and explain technical tradeoffs.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, sound independent judgment, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
• Self-motivated, organized, efficient, process-oriented, and committed to high-quality engineering work.
• Ability to travel up to 10% of the time, domestically and internationally.

Other TOOLS we prefer you to have:

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with embedded communications, Bluetooth Low Energy, wired serial interfaces, antenna or RF circuits, or low-power electronic design.
• Knowledge of firmware development tools and an additional programming language such as Python or C++.
• Experience with design of experiments, automated test development, data acquisition, or statistical analysis.
• Knowledge of electronic component reliability, failure modes, design for manufacturability, and design for test.
• Familiarity with applicable regulatory and certification standards such as UL, FCC, ISED/IC, CE, CEC, or ANSI.
• Hands-on experience with soldering, rework, prototype assembly, and test-fixture development.
