Sutphen is seeking an Electrical Engineer Apprentice to join our growing team in Urbana, Ohio.
We are seeking a detail-oriented Engineer Apprentice to join our team. In this role you will contribute to Sutphen’s Chassis Design Engineering Team to support Production by efforts to increase efficiency, remove obstacles, refine designs & improve the safety & reliability of Sutphen Chassis apparatus.

Essential Tasks, Education, and SkillsEssential Tasks
•    Responsible for drawing creation, revisions to parts, assemblies, and some light design work.
•    Solid computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook) and a willingness to work in an office environment for the entirety of a shift.
•    Troubleshoot and debug issues that come up during production and drive quick resolution.
•    Works with Engineers, Sales Engineers, Production Personnel to interpret design requirements, determine detail required, and coordinate design with other designers.
•    Resolves design issues with Sales Engineering and Production.
•    Assume accountability for accuracy of projects & designs.
•    Support the shop floor with direction on design or process related questions.
•    Work with suppliers on manufacturing & quality related issues.
•    Performs other assignments under direction of Supervisor or Manager
•    Maintain a neat, organized, and professional work environment
•    Operate and conduct business activities with safety first
•    Accountable to deadlines
•    Support a positive work atmosphere through professional and effective communication with co-workers, customers, business partners, and management
•    Ability to self-check designs and drawings for accuracy and completeness
•    Act and make decisions with Sutphen’s Core Values top of mind (Innovation, Integrity, Teamwork, Respect, Quality, and Accountability)
•    Other projects or duties as needed
Education, Skills & Abilities
•    The following skills are a plus but not required as Chassis Engineering is willing to train:
•    Blueprint reading
•    Sheet metal design
•    CAD skills, specifically Solidworks
•    General knowledge of bumpers, exterior compartments, EMS cabinets and console panels
