Job Description

Ampcontrol is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our Power Distribution team based in Tomago, delivering practical electrical engineering solutions across mining, industrial, infrastructure and energy projects.

Working across design, project delivery and technical support, you’ll develop electrical designs and documentation for LV/MV systems, switchgear, protection, cables and power distribution equipment. You’ll work closely with clients, Project Managers, Engineering, Workshop and Site teams to deliver compliant, high-quality solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop electrical designs, calculations, equipment specifications and bills of materials.
  • Design and review LV/MV power distribution, switchgear, protection and cable systems.
  • Liaise with clients and attend site and project meetings to understand technical requirements.
  • Provide technical support across projects, tenders, variations, installation and commissioning.
  • Review designs and documentation to ensure quality, compliance and customer requirements are met.
  • Prepare technical documentation, work packages, test plans and compliance documentation.
  • Support testing, commissioning and training activities as required.
  • Work closely with workshop and site teams to resolve technical issues and deliver practical solutions.

About You

You’re a practical and technically capable Electrical Engineer who enjoys solving problems and seeing projects through from design to delivery. You’re comfortable working with clients and internal teams and aren’t afraid to get hands-on in the workshop or on site.

You’ll ideally have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
  • 2+ years’ experience within mining, industrial, infrastructure, energy or heavy industry.
  • Strong understanding of LV/MV electrical systems, switchgear, protection, cables and distribution.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings.
  • Knowledge of relevant Australian standards, safety regulations and QA requirements.
  • Experience with CAD and engineering design software.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving and organisational skills.
  • A commitment to quality, safety and technical excellence.
  • A practical, hands-on approach and ability to work across multiple projects and priorities.
