Job Description


Role Purpose


The role is responsible for applying Electrical and Instrumentation Engineering knowledge within the cement production environment and independently executing technical work that requires sound judgment in the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of appropriate techniques, procedures and criteria.


Role Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and supervise electrical tasks.


  • Ensure the availability of all electrical and instrumentation equipment required for production.


  • Ensure Predictive and Preventive Maintenance Schedules are correctly executed.


  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety procedures.


  • Follow up with the Electrical Planner on the availability of spares required for execution.


  • Assign and coordinate work for Electrical Technicians and ensure the close-out of assigned tasks.


  • This list of responsibilities is not exhaustive, and the job holder may be required to perform duties outside of this scope as operationally required.


Requirements


Critical Knowledge


  • Good knowledge of cement manufacturing processes.


  • Knowledge of medium- and low-voltage electric motors and their applications.


  • Knowledge of ABB switchgear.


  • Knowledge of 11kV/400V power distribution panels and Motor Control Centres.


  • Knowledge of cement industry instrumentation and control systems.


Critical Experience


  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in a modern integrated cement plant or large-scale industrial environment in a similar field.


  • Hands-on experience with ABB and Siemens Variable Frequency/Speed Drives.


  • Membership of relevant professional bodies, such as COREN or NSE, would be an advantage.


Educational Qualification and Other Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.


  • COREN or NSE membership would be an advantage.
