Job Description

The national multidisciplinary design firm is s eeking a talented Electrical Engineer to join their Washington D.C. office. This role requires excellent time management, communication, and technical skills as you work closely with your internal project team and consultants!

The firm has 12 offices all around the world focusing on healthcare, arts and culture, community, corporate, education, and government projects. Recently, the firm won the prestigious American Architecture Award for Museums and Cultural Building, along with IIDA Healthcare Design Award.

Responsibilities
  • Make calculations, using engineering formulas and skills for electrical designs such as heating and cooling loads, power distribution calculations, equipment sizing, material selection or site conditions accommodations.

  • Conduct and coordinates electrical engineering design work within the engineering group and integrated project teams as appropriate.

  • Resolve a variety of complex problems, i.e., conflicting design requirements, code issues, varying design options, and difficult condition requirements using your curiosity and love of challenges.

  • Provide drawings for own designs using Revit.

  • Research design options and document findings for Project Engineer.

  • Provide information to Project Engineer for incorporation into specifications, reviews shop drawings, research code issues and ask general questions of code officials and organizes and maintain project files.

  • Assure that drawings and designs are in accordance with design standards.

  • Keep Project Manager informed of workload and any changes in project scope or services through ongoing communication to understand any project changes, design issues or time/budget constraints that may impact initial assignment.

  • Provide Project Engineer with project management and administration assistance.

Qualifications

Preferred candidates will have:

  • Documented experience with an MEP engineering firm or A/E firm providing electrical design.

  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering, preferably with an architectural engineering focus.

  • EIT, Licensed Professional Engineer, PE registration is desired but not required.

  • 5-8 years of experience preferred in the design of lighting, power, fire-alarm, government, healthcare, commercial and/or educational project types.

  • Proficiency with Revit software, as well as excellent skills in Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Good written and verbal communication skills

Additional Qualifications (value-add, not required)

  • Familiarity with electrical analysis software (i.e. SKM, Easy Power) and knowledge of the current sustainable technologies applicable to the electrical design. Knowledge of Dynamo script software is preferred.
