Job Responsibilities
Work in product development role within a R&D environment to design, specify, test, and document electrical components, PCB assemblies, lithium-ion battery systems, and complete arc welding. Focus will be on power electronics, embedded hardware design, battery system architecture, battery chemistry selection, and IEC safety standards.
- Perform and supervise the testing of new designs, processes, warranty improvements, and cost reductions, including coordinating the activities of technical R&D support personnel.
- Design and develop main power electronics architecture for arc welding machines, including DC-AC inverters, AC-DC rectifiers, DC-DC converters, and magnetic components (transformers, chokes).
- Design, prototype, and test PCB circuits, layouts, and electromagnetic devices required for arc welding equipment and battery management systems using PCB design tools (Altium, PADS and Mentor Graphics) and by conducting FMEA (Failure Mode Effects Analysis) and WCA (Worst-Case Circuit Analysis).
- Implement fault detection, sensing circuitry, thermal runaway protection, shortcircuit protection, and overcharge/discharge safeguards to ensure isolation, EMI/EMC compliance design, and fail-safe/redundancy mechanisms for compliance with functional ISO 26262 and IEC 61508 safety standards.
- Implement real-time control algorithms, PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation) generation techniques, ADC (Analog-to Digital Converter) and DAC (Digital-toAnalog Converter) interfacing and digital communication protocols including CAN (J1939 and I2C) for system communication for hardware development, diagnostics, and firmware validation testing.
- Perform thermal modeling, lifetime prediction, and aging analysis of electronic components and battery systems using simulation tools including Mathcad, MATLAB, and Simulink.
- Perform UL/CE/EMC compliance, functional safety, automated testing, and validate system- level hardware using Python, RSLogix, and LabVIEW. Validate system-level hardware and firmware design through HIL (Hardware-in-the-Loop) testing environmental stress testing, and automated test setups using Python, RS Logix, and LabVIEW.
- Use firmware development software such as C/C++ and Linux-based systems for diagnostics, logging, and remote firmware updates. Develop test specifications for production use.
Job Requirements
- Must have Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronics Engineering or foreign equivalent.
- Must have 8 years of experience as an Electrical Engineer or related
- Must have 8 years of experience with product development with a focus on power electronics, embedded design, and battery systems;
- Must have 8 years of experience real-time control algorithms, PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation) generation, ADC (Analog-to-Digital Converter) and DAC (Digital-to-Analog Converter) interfacing, and digital communication protocols (I2C or CAN);
- Must have 8 years of expereince with simulation tools (MATLAB, Mathcad, or LTSpice), PCB design tools (Altium, PADS, or Mentor Graphics), and firmware development (C/C++).
- Must have 3 years of experience with UL/CE/EMC compliance, functional safety, and automated testing (Python, RSLogix, and LabVIEW) for system-level validation;
- Must have 3 years of expereince with battery management architecture, battery chemistry, and IEC safety standards;
- Must have 3 years of experience with Linux-based systems for diagnostics, logging, and remote firmware updates;
- Must have 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment (design for manufacturing, production troubleshooting, finished product testing, etc.).
