Electrical Engineer

Our client, a leading Renewable Contractor is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join their growing team in Waterford, supporting the delivery of renewable energy infrastructure projects across Ireland. The successful candidate will work on a portfolio of utility-scale solar developments and high-voltage (HV) projects, playing a key role in the design, grid connection, and delivery of critical energy assets. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious engineer looking to develop their career within the rapidly expanding renewable energy sector.

Responsibilities

  • Support the design and delivery of utility-scale solar PV and high-voltage infrastructure projects.

  • Prepare and review electrical designs, drawings, calculations, and technical specifications.

  • Assist with grid connection applications and liaise with relevant stakeholders throughout the connection process.

  • Coordinate with design consultants, contractors, and utility providers to ensure successful project execution.

  • Support the development of HV substation and electrical network designs in accordance with industry standards.

  • Conduct technical assessments, site inspections, and engineering studies to support project development.

  • Review contractor submissions and ensure compliance with project specifications and regulatory requirements.

  • Assist with commissioning activities and technical handover of completed projects.

  • Provide technical support to project managers and development teams throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in electrical engineering, preferably within renewable energy, utilities, power generation, or infrastructure projects.

  • Experience with electrical design and engineering calculations for HV or MV systems.

  • Knowledge of grid connection processes and electrical network requirements in Ireland.

  • Familiarity with utility-scale solar projects, substations, or power distribution infrastructure.

  • Strong communication skills and a full clean Irish driving licence.
