About the Role
Service Stream’s Telecommunications division is currently seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our SAED team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing professional engineering services to support the design and delivery of telecommunication base stations.
Nature of position: Permanent, Full Time
Location: Flexible – Can be based in Melbourne, Sydney, or Brisbane
Key Responsibilities
Design AC specifications & SLD, DC power systems, earthing & lightning protection, and equipment/shelter configuration as per carrier requirements.
Assess AC and DC cable sizing, PSU battery reserves, shelter/ODU/equipment room heat loads & cooling, soil resistivity tests, and site AC maximum demand calculations.
Review designs for compliance with relevant carrier specifications, Australian Standards, and local state SIRs.
Provide engineering support throughout the project delivery lifecycle from design to build and acceptance.
Work with construction teams to resolve site issues and incorporate buildability feedback in future designs.
Liaise and negotiate with Supply Authorities for new connection requests or upgrades.
Mentor junior engineers.
About You
Tertiary qualification in a relevant Engineering discipline (Electrical, Electronic, Telecommunication etc).
Eligible for, or a recognised Member of Institute of Engineers Australia (MIEAust).
Significant professional services experience in a consulting environment.
Sound understanding of Australian Standards (AS3000, AS3008, AS3015, AS1768 etc) and State Service and Installation Rules.
Experience with DNSP connection processes and approvals.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with project teams.
