WHO YOU ARE

The Electrical Engineer is responsible for designing, maintaining, and improving electrical systems and equipment within the manufacturing facility. This role ensures compliance with safety standards, supports production efficiency, and drives continuous improvement initiatives, including PLC programming, robotics integration, Arc Flash safety, and Lockout/Tagout procedures.

In our ClosetMaid Ocala facility. A 600,000 square feet manufacturing and distribution facility.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and maintain electrical systems for plant operations, including power distribution, control systems, and automation.
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime.
  • Develop, modify, and maintain PLC programs for production equipment and automated systems.
  • Integrate PLCs with HMIs, sensors, robotics, and other control devices to optimize performance.
  • Configure and maintain robotic systems for material handling, assembly, and other automated processes.
  • Perform diagnostics and updates on PLC and robotic systems to ensure reliability and efficiency.
  • Document all PLC logic and robotic programming changes and maintain version control.
  • Ensure all electrical and control work complies with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as company safety standards.
  • Conduct Arc Flash hazard analysis and ensure proper labeling and PPE compliance.
  • Provide Arc Flash training for maintenance and operations teams.
  • Implement and enforce Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures for electrical systems and train staff on proper execution.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement preventive measures.
  • Lead electrical, automation, and robotics projects from concept through implementation, ensuring timelines and budgets are met.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on equipment upgrades and new installations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve energy efficiency and reduce operational costs.
  • Support Lean and Six Sigma initiatives related to electrical, automation, and robotics systems.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of electrical systems, PLC programs, robotic configurations, and modifications.
  • Train maintenance staff on electrical safety, troubleshooting, PLC basics, robotics operation, Arc Flash, and LOTO procedures.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 3+ years in an industrial or manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with PLC programming (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar).
  • Experience with robotic systems (Fanuc or similar).
  • Familiarity with motor controls, automation systems, and industrial networking.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in electrical design software, PLC programming tools, and robotic programming interfaces.
  • Knowledge of NFPA 70E, NEC, OSHA standards, and LOTO requirements.
