Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our dynamic Engineering Consultancy Team. The successful candidate will apply their power systems engineering expertise to design, model, and document electrical power distribution and control systems across a variety of projects. Previous design experience required, with field experience highly desirable. Must be proficient in AutoCAD for producing accurate single-line diagrams, schematics, terminal strip layouts, and comprehensive electrical construction drawings. Additional exposure to automation and renewable energy projects is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Power Systems Design & Analysis: Perform load flow, short-circuit, protective device coordination, and earthing studies using industry-standard software (e.g., ETAP, DIgSILENT, SKM).
  • Electrical Modelling: Develop and maintain detailed electrical power system models for generation, transmission, and distribution networks.
  • CAD Documentation: Create and revise electrical drawings in AutoCAD, including:
  • Single-line diagrams (SLDs)
  • Schematic diagrams
  • Terminal strip and wiring diagrams
  • Equipment layout and panel board drawings
  • Project Coordination: Self-motivated with the ability to both work autonomously and collaborate within the electrical engineering team to deliver projects on time and to a high quality.
  • Technical Reporting: Prepare technical reports, calculations, and design justifications clearly and concisely for clients and regulatory bodies.
  • Hazardous Area Classification & Auditing: Conduct hazardous area classification, design, and desktop auditing of electrical installations, ensuring compliance with relevant Australian and international standards.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of design or field experience in power systems engineering.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of electrical power systems modelling tools (e.g., ETAP, DIgSILENT, SKM).
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD for the creation of detailed electrical drawings.
  • Strong understanding of power system protection, control, and distribution principles.
  • Familiarity with relevant Australian Standards (AS/NZS) and international equivalents (IEC, IEEE).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Desired Skills & Attributes

  • Experience with industrial automation systems (PLC, SCADA) and control circuit design.
  • Involvement in renewable energy projects (solar, wind, battery storage) and grid integration studies.
  • Knowledge of power quality assessment and mitigation techniques.
  • Professional engineer (PE) certification or chartered status is a plus.
