We are seeking a qualified Electrical Engineer to provide comprehensive electrical and mechanical maintenance services for a prestigious office building in central Cambridge. This mobile role requires a proactive professional who can deliver high-quality technical support while maintaining the operational excellence expected in a high-profile commercial environment.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct planned preventative maintenance on electrical systems including lighting, power distribution, emergency systems, and building services equipment. Respond to reactive maintenance requests and electrical faults, diagnosing issues efficiently and implementing effective solutions.
Utilize mechanical knowledge to support HVAC systems, pumps, motors, and other building plant equipment maintenance. Maintain accurate records of all work completed, including test certificates, maintenance logs, and compliance documentation. Liaise professionally with building occupants, property management teams, and external contractors as required.
Ensure compliance with all relevant electrical safety regulations, building codes, and company procedures. Participate in emergency response procedures and out-of-hours call-out rota as needed. Identify opportunities for system improvements and energy efficiency enhancements.
Essential Requirements
NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent electrical qualification. Current 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations certification (BS 7671). Strong mechanical aptitude with experience in building services and plant maintenance. Proven experience in commercial building electrical systems and fault-finding.
Valid UK driving license for mobile working requirements.
Excellent problem-solving abilities and capacity to work independently. Strong communication skills for professional client interaction.
Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends for planned maintenance activities.
Desirable Requirements
Additional certifications such as PAT testing, emergency lighting, or fire alarm systems. Experience with BMS (Building Management Systems) and controls. Previous experience in high-profile commercial or corporate environments. Mechanical qualifications or demonstrable HVAC knowledge.
