The Electrical Engineer is responsible for assigned activities within the electrical engineering discipline in support of facility design, operation, and maintenance. The successful candidate will apply broad and diversified knowledge of electrical engineering principles, practices, and DOE-complex requirements in the preparation of engineering analyses, design packages, and technical deliverables. This position performs conventional electrical design and analysis, supports system integration across disciplines, provides construction and project support, and contributes to continuous process improvement to meet customer needs. The Electrical Engineer must be capable of working independently and collaboratively within a multi-discipline team environment.

Essential Job Functions

  • Perform conventional electrical engineering design, analysis, calculations, and evaluations.
  • Develop, review, revise, and support engineering design packages.
  • Prepare and review engineering documentation and technical deliverables.
  • Provide construction support, field engineering support, and project engineering support.
  • Support system integration activities within and across engineering disciplines.
  • Utilize engineering technology, software tools, and established engineering practices to accomplish assigned work.
  • Apply industry, regulatory, and DOE/NNSA requirements to engineering activities.
  • Interface effectively with project personnel, engineers, operations personnel, and other stakeholders.
  • Work independently while also contributing as an effective member of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
  • May provide technical direction and guidance to technicians and support personnel, as assigned.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of relevant electrical engineering experience performing duties similar to those described above.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of electrical engineering principles, practices, and design methodologies.
  • Working knowledge of applicable industry, regulatory, DOE, and NNSA codes, standards, and criteria.
  • Knowledge of commonly applied codes and standards used at DOE and DoD facilities, including NQA-1, International Building Code (IBC), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards, and the National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Experience developing, facilitating, and reviewing engineering design packages.
  • Familiarity with engineering deliverables, including construction documents and supporting technical documentation.
  • Experience using computer-aided design/drafting software and engineering markup tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.

Clearance Requirements

This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q Clearance.

  • U.S. citizenship is required, with very limited exceptions.
  • Candidates must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be capable of meeting all site access and badging requirements associated with the position.

Work Schedule

This position may require assignment to a weekend-shift schedule based on operational requirements.

  • Following completion of the training period, employees may be assigned to a Friday through Monday schedule consisting of four 10-hour shifts.
  • The initial training period will be worked on a Tuesday through Friday schedule consisting of four 10-hour shifts.
  • Shift assignments and weekend schedules will be determined by management based on project and operational needs.
