Job Summary:

The Electrical Designer 2 will provide electrical and mechanical design services to support engineering projects. This role is integral to ensuring the development of accurate and high-quality technical designs for a variety of electrical and structural engineering applications.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• None.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Design and Drafting

• Create technical drafting and designs based on guidance from project managers and engineers, including:
• Protection and control panel layouts, wiring diagrams, elementaries, and interconnection diagrams.
• Substation structures, layouts, elevations, and details.
• Equipment foundations and duct banks (plans, profiles, and sections).
• Manhole plans and elevations.
• Transmission line plans, profiles, and details.
• Electrical equipment plans and elevations.
• Bills of materials.
• Ground grid plans and details.
• Conduit and cable trench plans and details.

Communication and Project Organization

• Organize and communicate the progress of design tasks with project managers and engineers for accurate project planning.
• Assemble drawing sets for submission to clients and contractors.

Compliance and Standards

• Maintain drawing files in compliance with company-defined procedures.
• Understand and adhere to company drawing standards and filing protocols.

Additional responsibilities and tasks as required to support the organization's goals and adapt to evolving business needs.

Attributes/Abilities:

• Must have a satisfactory background/MVR check.
• Must pass a pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, and/or random drug test.
• Must have reliable transportation and possess a valid driver's license.
• Basic understanding of electrical theory.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD required, experience with Civil 3D and Inventor is preferred.
• Familiarity with standard products used in utility substations and industrial medium voltage systems.
• Strong organizational skills and mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a project team.

Experience and Education:

• Associate degree in Computer Aided Design or Engineering Technology.
• 5+ years of experience in electric utility substation design or industrial medium voltage systems design.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
• Ability and willingness to work occasional overtime as needed.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Must wear appropriate and mandated PPE including arc-flash suit, safety glasses, hard hat, respirator, hearing protection, steel-toed boots, etc.
• Ability to walk, stand, climb, pull, push, sit, and work in a cramped or confined space.
• Potential low exposure to various conditions, including dirt, heat, fumes, smoke, water, noise, vibration, grease, oil, and dust.
