AFRY is one of the largest international power sector consulting and engineering companies with about 19,000 experts working across the world to create sustainable solutions for future generations. In Southeast Asia, we are a leading power sector consulting engineering company executing our regional consultancy and engineering assignments from our power sector consulting offices in Bangkok, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, Hanoi, Singapore, Pune, Noida and Taipei. In total, we have multinational staff of more than 500 working in power generation field in Asia.
In line with our increasing business, we are looking for qualified and experienced candidates for Electrical Design Engineer – Photovoltaic System to be based in Manila, Philippines office.
As an Electrical Design Engineer – Solar PV (PV Systems), you will be responsible for the design and optimization of photovoltaic power systems for utility-scale and commercial & industrial (C&I) solar projects. Your focus will be on PV system design, including DC/AC configurations, inverter selection, energy yield analysis, and grid interconnection coordination.
You will work closely with HV, LV, civil, and project teams to deliver technically sound and constructible solar PV designs.
Key Responsibilities
Design and optimize solar PV systems, including module layout, string configuration, inverter sizing, and DC/AC ratio.
Perform PV system calculations such as energy yield, system losses, voltage drop, and performance analysis.
Prepare and review PV system design drawings, including:
PV layouts
Single Line Diagrams (SLDs)
Stringing diagrams
Cable schedules and equipment layouts
Select and specify PV components such as modules, inverters, combiner boxes, transformers, and monitoring systems
Use PV design and simulation tools such as PVsyst, Helioscope, and AutoCAD (Revit/BIM is an advantage).
Coordinate with HV and LV engineers on grid connection, substations, transformers, and interface requirements.
Ensure compliance with international and local standards (IEC, IEEE, NEC, utility grid codes).
Support procurement by preparing technical specifications and reviewing vendor documentation.
Provide technical support during construction, testing, and commissioning, including responses to RFIs and design clarifications.

Technical Skills
Strong knowledge of:
PV system design (DC & AC)
Inverters (string / central)
Grid-connected solar power plants
Hands-on experience with:
PVsyst, Helioscope or equivalent PV simulation software
AutoCAD (Revit/BIM is a plus)
Understanding of grid interconnection requirements and coordination with HV/LV systems.
