Webster, TX - 120-145k with PE (NASA Space Center- US Citizen)

Purpose and Scope

The Electrical Engineer will provide comprehensive engineering support for the development, design, installation, operation, and maintenance of facility systems at NASA’s Johnson Space Center (JSC) in Houston, TX.

The selected candidate will manage a diverse project portfolio, executing initiatives that range from routine facility modifications to highly complex, multi-disciplinary infrastructure upgrades. This role is vital to ensuring the long-term reliability, compliance, and optimization of both institutional and mission-critical campus assets.

Job Duties and Essential Responsibilities

• Demonstrates a solid foundation in core engineering principles, operating with minimal supervision to develop concepts, bases of design (BOD), and robust technical solutions that ensure system operability.
• Generally familiar with current industry standards, energy efficiency requirements, and general arc flash hazard analyses to ensure personnel safety and equipment protection

Knowledge and Skills Required

• Comprehensive knowledge of existing facilities' electrical systems and a proven ability to perform full-cycle electrical designs.
• Proficient in preparing detailed engineering and design drawings using AutoCAD software.
• Experienced in the design of low-voltage and medium-voltage electrical distribution systems, including site and facility services.
• Skilled at developing project plans, procedural workflows, functional requirements, and detailed system analyses.
• Competent in identifying and executing cost-effective infrastructure upgrades, modifications, and component replacements.
• Capable of producing innovative equipment layouts within restricted spaces while strictly complying with all codes and standards.
• Available to conduct job walks and thorough field inspections of operational electrical systems.
• Interface and coordinate with internal and external customers.

Education and Experience Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from an ABET-accredited institution. Minimum of 7 years of relevant engineering experience aligned with the responsibilities of this role.

Preferred Qualifications

• Must possess a current and active Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of Texas or be eligible to obtain Texas licensure within one year of employment.

Other Requirements

• Must have the ability to communicate in English, both verbal and written in an effective manner.
• Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
• Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:
• This position involves work typical of an office environment with no unusual hazards; constant sitting with use of computer terminal; constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents;
• constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication; constant mental alertness; must possess planning/organizing skills and must be able to work under deadlines.
• Field work will consist primarily of job walks in support of design projects and system trouble shooting Site hazard training and Personal Protective Equipment are provided.
