Location: Burlingame, California
Department: ESS Engineering
Reports To: Senior Power Electronics Engineer
Position Type: Full-time
Peak Energy is the first American venture to advance globally proven sodium-ion battery systems as the storage standard for the new era of renewable energy on a resilient grid.
Sodium-ion is cheap, readily available, and safe — making it the leading contender in a rapidly evolving market.
Our leadership team is powered by decades of expertise in scaling gigawatt-level innovation at world-class companies such as Tesla, Northvolt, Apple, Powin, Enovix, Zipline, Solid Power, SunPower, and Fluence. We are backed by strategic investment and product partners including TDK Ventures, Eclipse Ventures, and GM Ventures.
We recently announced America's first sodium-ion grid storage factory in Sacramento with production starting Q1 2027, and over $1B in signed customer commitments including Jupiter Power and Energy Vault.
We are looking for an Electrical Engineer Intern to support the design, development, and validation of electrical systems across our energy storage platforms, from battery systems to power electronics and control hardware. This role will work closely with design, firmware, and test teams to understand system requirements, assist with hardware development, support lab validation, and contribute to engineering improvements.
Through hands-on engineering work, you will play a key role in supporting product development and informing design decisions. This person is a self-starter who is hungry for knowledge and holds themselves and others to high standards. Candidates should be available to begin employment in Spring 2027.
Peak Energy is committed to building a diverse and inclusive workforce. We strongly encourage women, people of color, and individuals from underrepresented groups to apply. The pay for this role is $30-35/hr, with actual pay varying based on work location, experience, and skills. Join us to thrive in a supportive environment while making a meaningful impact in the energy sector!
