Job Description

Our client, a Tier 1 contractor, is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join their Power Division, with the option to be based out of either their Kildare or South Dublin office. The successful candidate will be involved in the design and delivery of high-voltage infrastructure projects, including substations, overhead lines, grid connections, and electrical services This is a fantastic opportunity to work on critical energy projects with a leading contractor in the Irish market.

To be successful in this role, the preferred candidate will have experience in HV electrical design, strong technical knowledge, and the ability to coordinate with multidisciplinary teams across project lifecycles.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and review HV electrical designs for substation and grid connection projects.
  2. Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure design compliance.
  3. Prepare technical documentation including specifications, drawings, and reports.
  4. Support project delivery from concept through to commissioning.
  5. Ensure designs meet regulatory, safety, and environmental standards.
  6. Liaise with utility providers and grid operators regarding connection requirements.
  7. Conduct site visits to assess design feasibility and support construction teams.
  8. Assist in procurement of electrical equipment and materials.
  9. Provide technical input during project meetings and design reviews.

Requirements:

  1. Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  2. 3+ years’ experience in HV electrical design, ideally within the power or utilities sector.
  3. Knowledge of substation design, grid connections, and overhead line infrastructure.
  4. Strong understanding of Irish electrical standards and regulations.
  5. Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or similar.
  6. Excellent communication and project coordination skills.
