As the Electrical Department Manager, you will be responsible for leading electrical engineering teams, staff, and projects across various locations while contributing to account management and business development activities. You will serve as a coach, leader, and mentor for department staff, ensuring the delivery of high-quality electrical design solutions on schedule and within budget.

The successful candidate is a proven leader who communicates effectively across disciplines and cultures. You will serve as a technical liaison for the electrical design of complex, large-scale industrial facilities and fast-paced, team-oriented projects that support a variety of market needs.

  • Provide leadership for a 20+ FTE team executing electrical design for U.S. projects.
  • Demonstrate strategic thinking for long-term team development, including technical and soft skills.
  • Leverage multi-market experience in at least two of SSOE's primary markets (Semiconductor, Battery, Pharma, Data Center, Manufacturing, General Building).

Technical Oversight

  • Ensure the technical competency and quality of work performed by staff through working knowledge of electrical engineering best practices and U.S. jurisdictional requirements.
  • Provide technical leadership for electrical systems, including power distribution (low and medium voltage), lighting, fire alarm, grounding, and telecommunications systems.
  • Verify that Electrical Discipline Captains define appropriate discipline work plans and monitor progress to ensure Quality, Budget, and Schedule (QBS) measures are met.
  • Oversee the application of relevant electrical codes and standards (e.g., NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE) as applicable to project requirements.
  • Support technical problem-solving and provide escalation support for complex electrical engineering challenges.

Standards & Process Improvement

  • In coordination with the Electrical Practice Group Lead, develop, organize, and implement discipline and departmental standards, recordkeeping, and continuous improvements.

  • Ensure teams have the current tools, software, and technical reference materials to support project requirements.
  • Champion the effective use of BIM, VDC, automation, and AI in electrical project delivery.

Project & Resource Management

  • Prepare and monitor project work schedules and projected workload forecasts.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to establish, monitor, and adhere to project budgets, adjusting as necessary to meet financial objectives.
  • Collaborate with SBU leadership to develop and maintain financial KPIs for the department.
  • Ensure electrical deliverables meet project scope, schedule, budget, and quality requirements.
