Job Description

Twin Rivers Paper Company is looking for a hands-on Electrical & Controls Engineer to join our Engineering team in Little Falls, NY.

This is a great opportunity for an engineer who enjoys being out in the plant, solving problems, improving equipment, and seeing projects through from an idea to startup. You'll work closely with our maintenance and operations teams on electrical, automation, and controls projects that directly impact safety, reliability, productivity, and equipment performance.

We're looking for someone with a solid background in industrial electrical systems and controls. Paper industry experience is a plus, but it's definitely not required. If you've worked with PLCs, drives, HMIs, and manufacturing equipment in another industrial environment, we'd like to hear from you.

What You'll Do

You'll have a mix of project work, controls/automation responsibilities, and hands-on troubleshooting. Some of the key responsibilities include:

  • Lead electrical, controls, automation, and capital projects from concept through installation and startup.
  • Program and troubleshoot Allen-Bradley PLCs, including Studio 5000, and support HMI applications.
  • Troubleshoot industrial electrical and control systems, including VFDs/drives, motors, MCCs, instrumentation, switchgear, and power distribution equipment.
  • Work with DCS, QCS, web inspection, and other process-control systems used throughout our manufacturing operation.
  • Partner with maintenance and operations to troubleshoot equipment issues, reduce downtime, and improve reliability.
  • Develop project scopes, budgets, schedules, drawings, bills of materials, and other project documentation.
  • Coordinate contractors, vendors, technicians, and internal resources during project execution.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to our electrical technicians and operations employees.
  • Identify opportunities to improve existing equipment, controls, and processes.
  • Make sure projects and electrical work are completed safely and in accordance with applicable standards and company requirements.

What we are looking for:

You don't need to check every box below. We're most interested in finding someone with strong industrial controls experience, good troubleshooting skills, and the ability to learn our operation.

Ideally, you'll bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Controls/Automation Engineering, or a related engineering field.
  • Experience working with electrical and controls systems in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • PLC programming and troubleshooting experience; Allen-Bradley/Rockwell experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with HMIs, industrial drives/VFDs, motors, and electrical troubleshooting.
  • The ability to manage projects and work effectively with maintenance, operations, contractors, and equipment vendors.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to get out into the plant and work through equipment and process issues.

Preferred Experience:

If you have experience in any of these areas, even better — but we don't expect one person to have all of them:

  • 3–5 years of industrial or manufacturing experience
  • Honeywell Experion DCS
  • QCS or web inspection systems
  • Allen-Bradley PowerFlex or ABB drives
  • Electrical substations and power distribution
  • Instrumentation and calibration
  • AutoCAD
  • Boiler or steam-system controls
  • Pulp and paper or other continuous-process manufacturing

This isn't a position where you'll spend all day behind a desk. You'll have the opportunity to work on meaningful projects, troubleshoot real manufacturing challenges, and have a direct impact on how our equipment and processes perform.

The position is based at our Little Falls, NY manufacturing facility and involves both office and plant-floor work. Occasional call-ins, extended hours, and limited travel may be required based on project and operational needs. Electrical Engineer

Compensation & Benefits

Salary Range: $90,000 – $125,000 annually

Actual compensation will depend on experience, education, technical skills, and internal equity.

Twin Rivers offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes:

  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • Retirement plan with company contribution
  • Paid time off and holidays
  • Training and professional development opportunities

Interested?

If you have a background in industrial electrical systems, controls, or automation and enjoy solving problems in a hands-on manufacturing environment, we encourage you to apply — even if your experience doesn't match every item listed above.

We'd like to hear what you can bring to the team.
