Our Electrical and Automation team supports infrastructure projects across Western Canada (BC, AB, SK), with a strong focus on municipal water, wastewater, stormwater, pump stations, lift stations, reservoirs, treatment facilities, standby power, instrumentation, controls and automation. About the Role
As an Electrical and Controls E.I.T. reporting into ISL’s Electrical and Automation team, you will enjoy a flexible hybrid work environment with technical variety across design, field work and commissioning as you make the following valuable contributions:
• Prepare and revise AutoCAD drawings for electrical, instrumentation and controls systems.
• Support design of power distribution, motor controls, VFDs, standby power, instrumentation, PLC panels, communication networks and related systems.
• Assist with specifications, equipment schedules, cable schedules, I/O lists, control narratives, reports, cost estimates and technical memoranda.
• Participate in site visits, field investigations, construction support, commissioning, startup and deficiency reviews.
• Coordinate with engineers, CAD staff, project managers, vendors, system integrators, contractors and operators.
• Use ISL quality procedures and follow established document production workflows.

• Your experience, coursework, or interests may include electrical design, controls and automation, drafting, programming, configuration, testing, troubleshooting, field review, commissioning, or work on municipal, industrial, utility, process, or infrastructure projects.
• You may also bring exposure to programming, configuration, testing, commissioning, or troubleshooting on platforms such as Rockwell Automation, Schneider Electric, Siemens, Omron, GE, Emerson, Ignition, VTScada, Wonderware, or similar systems.

Your cover letter should include:
• An example of AutoCAD drafting, design, or field and commissioning work you have supported, including any PLC, HMI, or SCADA platforms you have used.
Your resume must display:
• E.I.T. registration in Alberta or British Columbia, or eligibility for registration with APEGA or EGBC.
• Diploma or Degree in electrical engineering from an accredited post-secondary institution.
• Approximately 3 to 4 years of early career experience in electrical engineering, controls engineering, instrumentation, or drafting.
• Hands on AutoCAD drafting experience.
• Experience in electrical, instrumentation, and controls systems design.
• Ability to travel for site reviews, field investigations, construction support, commissioning, and client meetings.
Assets:
• Programming or configuration experience with PLC, HMI, or SCADA platforms such as Rockwell Automation, Schneider Electric, Siemens, Omron, GE, Emerson, Ignition, VTScada, Wonderware, or similar systems.
• Ability to learn quickly, ask good questions, receive feedback, and apply standards consistently.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with a practical, team-oriented approach.

Based on your years of experience and qualifications the salary band for this position is:
• $100,000 to $110,000 per annum
