Job Description

HELP MAINTAIN THE FUTURE OF CORRUGATED MANUFACTURING

TRG is looking for an experienced Electrical & Controls Technician/Specialist to join our team supporting the BHS Jetliner Xceed, one of the most advanced digital printing systems in the corrugated industry.

TRG is home to the first BHS Jetliner Xceed digital preprint press installed and operating in the United States.

The Xceed combines high-speed single-pass inkjet printing, advanced automation, industrial controls, precision paper handling, and intelligent process control into one highly integrated production system.

We're looking for an electrical and controls professional who wants to go beyond traditional industrial maintenance and become part of the team establishing how this technology will be supported in the United States.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

As the Electrical & Controls Specialist, you will troubleshoot, maintain, and improve the electrical, automation, instrumentation, and controls systems supporting the Xceed digital printing operation.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Troubleshoot electrical, electronic, controls, instrumentation, and automation-related equipment failures.
  • Diagnose problems using electrical schematics, PLC diagnostics, HMI interfaces, electrical drawings, and machine documentation.
  • Troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment and industrial automation systems.
  • Work with sensors, encoders, actuators, motors, drives, servos, and other industrial control components.
  • Troubleshoot communication networks and industrial Ethernet systems.
  • Diagnose I/O, safety circuits, interlocks, and machine-control issues.
  • Troubleshoot variable-frequency drives and servo systems.
  • Support troubleshooting of high-speed paper-handling and web-transport systems.
  • Support the electrical and controls systems associated with the Xceed's single-pass inkjet printing technology.
  • Work with BHS technical personnel during troubleshooting, upgrades, commissioning, and system development.
  • Support troubleshooting involving the Xceed's automated moisture-control and process systems.
  • Assist with commissioning and integration of new equipment and technology.
  • Perform preventive and predictive electrical maintenance.
  • Use electrical test equipment safely and effectively.
  • Identify recurring failures and participate in root-cause analysis.
  • Recommend equipment improvements that increase reliability, safety, quality, and uptime.
  • Develop troubleshooting documentation and electrical maintenance procedures.
  • Help establish the electrical and controls maintenance program for the Xceed.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
  • Support production during equipment troubleshooting and recovery.
  • Follow all electrical safety requirements, including applicable OSHA and NFPA 70E practices.

THIS ISN'T YOUR TYPICAL ELECTRICIAN JOB

The Xceed represents a new generation of corrugated manufacturing technology.

This isn't simply a machine with motors, sensors, and a PLC.

It is a highly integrated digital production system combining:

  • Single-pass industrial inkjet printing.
  • Advanced automation.
  • High-speed web handling.
  • Precision motion and control.
  • Industrial sensors and instrumentation.
  • PLC-based machine control.
  • HMI systems.
  • Servo and drive technology.
  • Automated process control.
  • Digital printing technology.
  • Intelligent quality and uptime systems.

And because this is the first Xceed operating in the United States, the maintenance team has an opportunity to become experts in the technology as it develops.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

We're looking for an experienced industrial electrician, controls technician, automation technician, or electrical maintenance professional who enjoys solving difficult problems.

Required:

  • 3+ years of industrial electrical, controls, or automation experience.
  • Strong understanding of industrial electrical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.
  • Experience troubleshooting PLC-controlled equipment.
  • Experience troubleshooting sensors, motors, starters, drives, or industrial control systems.
  • Ability to use electrical test equipment safely and effectively.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and methodically diagnose complex equipment failures.
  • Strong commitment to electrical safety and safe work practices.

Preferred:

  • Siemens PLC experience.
  • Siemens TIA Portal experience.
  • Experience with VFDs and servo systems.
  • Industrial Ethernet/network troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience with HMIs.
  • Experience with safety PLCs or machine safety systems.
  • Experience with motion-control systems.
  • Experience with high-speed manufacturing equipment.
  • Experience with corrugators, printing equipment, converting equipment, or web-handling machinery.
  • Experience with BHS equipment.
  • Experience with industrial inkjet or digital printing systems.
  • Technical degree, electrical technology degree, apprenticeship, or equivalent experience.
  • NFPA 70E training or certification.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

We aren't looking for someone who simply resets a fault and gets the machine running.

We're looking for someone who wants to understand why the fault occurred in the first place.

You should be comfortable looking at a machine that isn't working, pulling up the electrical drawings, checking the PLC diagnostics, testing the field devices, following the signal path, and systematically working your way to the root cause.

If you enjoy controls, automation, troubleshooting, and learning how complex machines work, you'll fit well here.

WHY JOIN TRG?

TRG is investing in technology that is helping redefine what is possible in corrugated packaging.

The BHS Jetliner Xceed brings industrial-scale digital preprint technology to TRG and gives the company new capabilities in speed, flexibility, graphic production, and customer response.

You'll have the opportunity to work directly with one of the newest technologies in the industry, and develop expertise that very few technicians currently possess.

You won't just maintain this technology. You'll help us build the knowledge and systems required to support it for years to come.

APPLY TODAY

If you're an industrial electrician, controls technician, automation specialist, or maintenance professional who wants to work with advanced technology and solve challenging problems, we want to hear from you.

Bring your electrical expertise. Bring your troubleshooting mindset. Help us build the future of digital corrugated manufacturing.

Our organization is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
