Infrastructure Services (ISG) brings together Council's asset management, infrastructure planning, design, project management, construction, services, maintenance and transport operations activities.​

Our Branch

Construction delivers an extensive range of specialist services in the areas of infrastructure, storm water drainage, bridge maintenance, transport network technologies, trades, land remediation, asset intelligence, lighting and facility services.

The Role

We are seeking an Electrical Compliance Officer to support the safe and compliant delivery of electrical and communications infrastructure across the city.

This is a field-based role where you will work across a diverse portfolio of Council assets including traffic signals, public lighting, libraries, parks, intersections and other public infrastructure.

Working closely with the Compliance Manager, you will undertake audits, inspections and risk assessments, identify defects and non-conformances, investigate incidents and support the implementation of corrective actions. Approximately 40% of the work relates to public lighting, with additional exposure to commercial and industrial electrical assets. This is not a physically demanding trade role; rather, it is ideally suited to someone who enjoys analysing systems, identifying risks, improving compliance and ensuring electrical work meets legislative, safety and quality requirements.

To be successful you will have:

• current Electrical Fitter/Mechanic Licence
• demonstrated experience in electrical compliance, auditing, quality assurance (QA) and/or quality control (QC) environments
• sound knowledge of the Electrical Safety Act, Electrical Safety Regulations, AS/NZS 3000 Wiring Rules and relevant Australian Standards
• experience conducting risk assessments, compliance audits, inspections and identifying non-conformances, defects and corrective actions
• experience working with public infrastructure assets, including public lighting, traffic signals, communications infrastructure or other commercial and industrial electrical assets
• well-developed written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with contractors, operational teams and stakeholders
• ability to work autonomously in a field-based role while contributing positively to a collaborative team environment
• strong attention to detail and commitment to continuous improvement, compliance and quality outcomes.
