CAD DESIGNER | Mexico City

Hybrid - 4 Days Onsite

We are seeking an eBOS Electrical CAD Designer to join our growing team in Mexico City. In this role, you will provide electrical design and layout support for utility-scale solar projects, with a focus on Balance of System (eBOS) components such as trunk bus, string harnesses, and DC distribution systems.

You will collaborate closely with eBOS Electrical Project Engineers, CAD Designers, and cross-regional teams in the U.S. and India to deliver accurate, cost-effective, and technically sound electrical designs that support both proposal and execution phases. This position plays a key role in driving design quality, process efficiency, and alignment with Nextracker’s engineering standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and review eBOS electrical layouts, including DC cable routing, DC harness configurations, combiner box placement, and termination details.
• Support Project Engineers by preparing electrical design documentation for proposal, detailed design, and project execution stages.
• Design and analyze AC and DC power distribution systems, including systems operating above 1kV DC.
• Interpret design inputs such as one-line diagrams, site layouts, and customer specifications to ensure accurate and compliant electrical layouts.
• Collaborate with mechanical and civil teams to ensure electrical layouts integrate seamlessly with tracker and site plans.
• Participate in value engineering exercises to optimize design and reduce cost while maintaining safety and quality.
• Coordinate with international engineering teams (U.S. and India) to maintain consistent design standards and documentation practices.
• Review and validate customer-provided files (DWG, PDF, specifications) for accuracy and completeness.
• Maintain design libraries, templates, and support process automation and standardization initiatives.
• Assist with quality checks, redlines, and design revisions throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements:

• BS in Electrical Engineering preferred
• 1–2 years of experience in a similar electrical design or drafting role, preferably within the eBOS, electrical utility scale power plant, power distribution, or renewable energy
• Associate degree in a related field at minimum
• Thorough knowledge of electrical drafting standards.
• Experience designing AC and DC power distribution systems, including familiarity with >1kV DC systems
• Proficiency in MS Office and AutoCAD (AutoCAD Electrical or Civil 3D experience a plus)
• Strong proficiency in English is required, with ability to speak, read and write effectively
• Strong organizational skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
