Nestlé USA is seeking a skilled and motivated Electrical & Automation Technician to support and maintain process control systems, electrical infrastructure, and factory automation equipment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for proactively troubleshooting and repairing electrical and automation systems to minimize downtime and support operational excellence.

The ideal candidate will possess strong PLC and industrial electrical troubleshooting skills, experience with automation platforms and manufacturing systems, and the ability to work independently while supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the facility.

Compensation

Pay Rate: $34-$37/hr plus 3rd shift differential $2.25/hr

$400 a month attendance bonus

Shift Information

3rd shift Monday-Friday, 10pm-6:30am

Key Responsibilities

PLC & Automation Systems

  • Troubleshoot PLCs, control panels, and associated automation hardware
  • Support troubleshooting and maintenance of HMI systems
  • Assist with PLC and HMI programming, testing, and commissioning
  • Troubleshoot and program:
  • • Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
  • • Servo motors
  • • Robotic control systems
  • Interpret electrical schematics, ladder logic, and safety circuits
  • Support automation obsolescence and modernization initiatives

Industrial Electrical Systems

  • Troubleshoot electrical systems including:
  • • 480VAC three-phase systems
  • • 120VAC systems
  • • 24VDC control systems
  • Troubleshoot circuits from motor starters through connected loads
  • Maintain and improve motor control circuit designs
  • Support machine safety systems and performance level verification
  • Perform electrical repairs and preventive maintenance activities safely and efficiently

SCADA / MES / Network Support

  • Support basic troubleshooting of SCADA, MES, Historian, and production data systems
  • Troubleshoot communication between production equipment and networked systems
  • Maintain and support industrial control networks including:
  • • Ethernet/IP
  • • ControlNet
  • • Instrument bus systems
  • Assist with switch and network troubleshooting
  • Ensure backups and documentation for systems, devices, and configuration changes are properly maintained

Preventive Maintenance & Reliability

  • Perform preventive maintenance on electrical and automation systems
  • Complete instrumentation calibration and maintain calibration documentation
  • Maintain accurate electrical drawings, automation documentation, and backup files
  • Utilize CMMS/SAP-AMM systems to:
  • • Create and manage work orders
  • • Enter maintenance feedback and labor hours
  • • Support maintenance planning improvements
  • • Verify spare parts and BOM accuracy
  • Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action activities

Continuous Improvement & Operations Support

  • Analyze production and downtime data to improve line reliability and performance
  • Support key plant KPI improvements in:
  • • Safety
  • • Quality
  • • Cost
  • • Service
  • Participate in troubleshooting with Operations and Maintenance teams in real time
  • Support line improvements, deviation investigations, and process optimization
  • Participate in problem-solving methodologies including:
  • • Fishbone Analysis
  • • GSTD
  • • Breakdown Analysis (BDA)
  • Assist with training and development of operators and technicians

Additional Responsibilities

  • Support operation and reliability of:
  • • Utility Management Systems
  • • Energy Management Systems
  • • Quality Control and SPC systems
  • Participate in capital projects and process improvement initiatives
  • Engage in continuous improvement pillar activities and team-based manufacturing programs
  • Maintain compliance with all safety, GMP, food safety, and environmental standards

Qualifications

Required Education

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Associate degree or Technical Degree in Electronics Technology preferred

OR

  • Equivalent combination of education and experience

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with industrial automation and process control systems
  • Experience with Allen-Bradley ControlLogix PLC platforms preferred
  • Experience with HMI platforms such as:
  • • FactoryTalk View
  • • Wonderware InTouch
  • • ArchestrA
  • Experience with instrumentation calibration preferred
  • Knowledge of robotics, AGVs, and automated manufacturing equipment
  • NFPA 70E certification is a plus

Required Skills

  • Strong PLC troubleshooting and diagnostics skills
  • Strong understanding of industrial electrical systems and circuit analysis
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation
  • Knowledge of automation, controls, and manufacturing systems
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and manage multiple priorities

Work Environment & Schedule

  • Ability to work off-shifts, weekends, overtime, and extended shifts as needed
  • Ability to work in industrial manufacturing environments
  • Must follow all Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), safety permitting, GMP, and food safety requirements
