Job Description

Downer is seeking skilled Electrical Automation Technicians or Electrical Automation Engineers for ongoing heavy industrial maintenance services and outages with our Automation team. Our Automation team works in 2 main areas, VSD (Variable Speed Drives) and In-motion weighbridges for rail.

With a workshop and office located in Eastern Creek, Sydney you will work in the office and workshop environments as well as site-based throughout NSW and across Australia. The ideal candidate is willing to work on the tools as well as help with other office administration items as they learn the business. Automation offers turnkey solutions to our clients and you are expected to apply your skills and expertise in installing, maintaining, and replacing specialist electrical equipment and systems for planned and unplanned breakdown work ensuring that work is completed safely, effectively, and to a high standard.

ABOUT YOU

  • Experience installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical/electronic equipment in a range of heavy industrial environments
  • Knowledge of how AC and DC motors work

  • Knowledge of electrical schematics and the ability to interpret relevant information

  • Knowledge of analogue, digital electronic and microprocessor control circuitry is highly desirable
  • Hold an Electrical licence and/or Electrical Engineering qualification with a valid LVR CPR
  • White Card and Driver’s License
  • RIW (Rail Industry Worker) Card desirable
  • Highly motivated, driven, and organised individual with a continuous improvement mindset
  • Have a true interest in learning and developing your skills within the automation field
  • Ability to travel and work site based as and when required
