Job Description

Job Description Summary

GE Vernova is looking for an Electrical Application Engineer to join our Power Quality team in Tampere, Finland.

This is an opportunity to join an experienced engineering team working on harmonic filter and reactive power compensation solutions for transmission and renewable energy applications. In this role, you will support the technical execution of customer orders, helping to translate project requirements into clear engineering deliverables for customers including transmission system operators, renewable energy projects, and internal GE Vernova stakeholders.

You will work within the Order to Remittance (OTR) phase, supporting the engineering activities required to deliver customer projects from order intake through to execution. This may include technical coordination, engineering documentation, design support and collaboration with internal teams and external suppliers to help ensure projects are delivered in line with customer requirements and business expectations.

This role would suit an electrical engineer with an interest in high-voltage or medium-voltage applications who is comfortable working with technical specifications, engineering detail and cross-functional collaboration. Direct experience in harmonic filters is not essential, and the role offers the opportunity to contribute within a knowledgeable team while building or applying expertise in a specialist area.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

As an Electrical Application Engineer, you will play an active role in the engineering execution of customer projects within our Power Quality business.

In this role, you will:

  • Work with key equipment used in harmonic filter and reactive power compensation systems, including capacitors, reactors and resistors, as well as associated high-voltage equipment
  • Use engineering tools and applications including DIgSILENT PowerFactory, AutoCAD, and other internal systems used in application engineering and project execution

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the technical execution of awarded projects, ensuring engineering deliverables are aligned with customer specifications and project requirements
  • Preparing, reviewing and coordinating technical documentation, drawings and related engineering outputs required during project delivery
  • Working with internal engineering teams, supply chain, project stakeholders and external vendors to ensure technical information is complete and accurately managed
  • Contributing to technical reviews, engineering discussions and clarification activities throughout the project lifecycle
  • Supporting the resolution of technical queries and helping to ensure engineering activities are delivered in line with required standards, quality expectations and project timelines

The Ideal Candidate

As this is a specialist field, we welcome candidates with relevant electrical engineering experience from adjacent areas, even if they have not worked directly with harmonic filter systems before. We are interested in candidates who bring strong electrical fundamentals, sound engineering judgement and the right mindset to learn and contribute.

The ideal candidate is likely to have some combination of the following:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • A background or interest in power systems, substations, grid connections, high-voltage or medium-voltage applications
  • Exposure to project engineering, substation design, primary equipment, transmission systems or industrial power applications
  • Familiarity with equipment used in high-voltage or medium-voltage environments
  • The ability to interpret technical requirements and turn them into practical engineering solutions
  • Confidence communicating with cross-functional stakeholders including engineers, project teams, vendors and internal functions
  • Experience with PowerFactory / DIgSILENT, PSCAD, Ansys, Creo, or similar engineering software would be beneficial, but is not essential
  • Professional proficiency in English is required, and Finnish language skills are an advantage, but not required
