
We are looking for a highly analytical and technically proficient Should Costing Engineer with a strong foundation in electrical and electronics engineering and manufacturing processes. This role is critical in supporting design-to-cost initiatives by working closely with product engineering teams to influence cost-effective design decisions early in the development cycle. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of electrical and electronics components such as transformers, reactors, breakers, switches, and electronic modules, and will be responsible for building accurate cost models based on engineering and manufacturing insights.
· Collaborate with sourcing and engineering teams to support design-to-cost strategies during product development.
· Analyze engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications to understand design intent and cost drivers.
· Develop detailed cost models for electrical and electronics components including:
- Transformers
- Reactors
- Breakers
- Switches
- Electronic modules
· Provide cost feedback and recommendations to optimize designs for manufacturability and cost efficiency.
· Maintain cost benchmarks and databases for various manufacturing processes and materials.
· Engage with sourcing and procurement teams to validate supplier quotes and support cost negotiations.
· Participate in supplier discussions to ensure transparency and alignment on cost structures.
· Prepare and present cost analysis reports to cross-functional stakeholders.
Maintain BOM cost records: Track and report product cost changes due to Commodity price movements, Supplier cost updates, Engineering design changes
Collaborate with Sourcing and Engineering to track cost‑out ideas and savings realization. Identify and report delays, risks, or gaps against cost targets
· Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field.
· 8+ years of experience in should costing, cost engineering, or product cost management.
· Strong understanding of electrical and electronics design principles and manufacturing processes.
· Proven experience in design-to-cost or value engineering initiatives.
· Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables, data analysis).
· Ability to interpret engineering drawings and schematics.
· Experience in supplier engagement and cost breakdown validation.
· Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
· Exposure to global sourcing and supplier markets.
· Familiarity with cost estimation tools (e.g., aPriori) and ERP systems.
· Experience working in cross-functional teams (engineering, sourcing, quality, finance).
