Designer

  • Development of technical information to support construction utilizing CAD software with oversight
  • Interpretation of construction, manufacturing, technical and safety documents
  • Analysis of as built conditions

Financial Analyst

  • Monitor capital project performance and provide regular reporting on spending, commitments, forecast and project status.
  • Analyze capital expenditures and identify risks, opportunities, and trends to support management decision making.
  • Oracle project creation, maintenance, invoice and requisition approvals
  • Development of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting requirements related to capital investments.
  • Partner with facilities and real estate teams to evaluate lease renewals, modifications, and new agreements.
  • Analyze lease-related financial impacts and provide recommendations to support business decisions.
  • Serve as a trusted financial partner to Programs, Operations, Facilities and Supply Chain Organizations
  • Support monthly forecast updates, annual operating plans and long-range strategic planning activities.

Logistics Analyst

  • Strategic oversight of the business and process of management and movement of material needed to support construction of all classes of submarines built at Electric Boat
  • The position requires someone who can interpret technical requirements and has acumen to draft and/or modify policies and procedures as needed to adapt to current practices
  • Strong understanding of logistics management, data management & KPI reporting, project reporting, material availability analysis, review of schedules, support of up and downstream customers
  • The position will entail significant professional interactions with various customers including:
    • EB & SUPSHIP Program Offices, NAVSEA and NAVSUP, Operations, Planning Departments, Purchasing, various Quality Departments, Government Agencies, Newport News Ship Building, and EB Off-Site Departments
  • Fiscal understanding when analyzing documents and when purging material as scrap or excess
  • Candidates require daily use of various reports and computer driven systems.

Admin Clerk

This is a customer service role in a warehouse environment supporting the Groton waterfront operations. The individual will be primarily assigned to the warehousing section of material control and will be responsible for updating inventory records in various databases.

Candidate must be capable of performing all of the normal duties of an administrative clerk, i.e., answering phones, typing, general filing, identifying file/record errors, generating reports, maintaining/assigning backlogs, receipt processing, material verification including: verify vendor shipment by sighting material to packing slip, physically confirming inventory counts and processing corresponding reconciliation documents, identifying if an SDS label is on file for hazardous material, processing rejection records, etc.

This individual will be responsible for generating reports using MS Excel, Word, PP and Access. Good interpersonal and organization skills are needed, as well as generate hand written reconciliation forms to correct inventory.

Warehouse Material Handler

  • Candidate must have basic understanding of how to use a computer and corresponding tools such as hand held devices, tablets, etc. to support current and future warehouse material systems so they can do electronic receipts, material picks, material tracking and issuance of material.
  • Familiar with receiving and issuing hazardous material and SDS requirements is a plus
  • A good understanding of computers is required to access and update EB's ITS (Inventory Tracking System), MRP II (Materials Resource Planning), Electronic Work Package (EWP), Pitch Catch, Real Time Outfitting Management Information Systems (ROMIS) and others for accessing company and warehousing procedures and training
  • Position requires driving a forklift as well as work at heights up to 40 feet while operating a forklift turret.
  • Candidate must be able to obtain a forklift license within Electric Boat within the first month
  • Candidate is required to have basic math skills to be able to support the receipt and issuance of linear unit of measure material and potentially cut material to the correct dimensions prior to issuing the material
  • This position may required going on board a Submarine for loading On-Board Repair Parts (OBRP’s)

Material Tech Aide

This position requires the Material Technical Aide to provide support to Design, Engineering, Procurement, Supplier Quality, Planning and various shipyard trade organizations with the development and consumption of the Bill of Materials (BOM) and Common Parts Catalog (CPC) during the design, fabrication and construction of Columbia, Virginia classes and Overhaul/Repair contracts.

Must be able to support the resolution of problems associated with the BOM, Military/commercial specifications, vendor drawings, shipbuilder drawings/disclosures and liability documents. This requires the ability to read and understand detail construction drawings/disclosures and their related documents.

Also, the applicant should be familiar with material identification/selection and application processes and have good organizational, writing and computer skills (Microsoft Word) and have a working knowledge of the tools required to produce products from CATIA/CDM, Teamcenter/NX and the Common Parts Catalog.

This position requires the ability to interpret and respond to Vendor Information Requests (VIR), initiate technical supplements using MRPII tools.

Trade Positions:

Carpenter

  • Install insulation, manufacture and install keel blocks, install lead, damping materials, deck tile throughout many compartments and spaces on the submarine and provide linesman services for the shipyard
  • Construct staging, establish and layout ship's reference points and support the moving and launching of the submarine.
  • Work conditions may include elevated platforms and confined spaces.
  • Individuals are required to possess their own basic hand tools.
  • Carpenters use blueprints, layout, and measurement skills to perform many jobs in submarine construction.
  • Use a variety of pneumatic and electrical power tools necessary to cut, modify, and install materials.

Lagger (Pipecoverer or Submarine Insulation Installer)

  • Work with fiberglass, calcium silicate, PVC Nitrile rubber, barium sulfate, and all standard lagging coverings and provide anti-sweat, personnel protection, thermal and sound insulation treatments on all piping systems and major shipboard components
  • Use chicken wire and high temperature cement to provide a hard covering on some insulation materials and sews various coverings on other treatments
  • Able to interpret drawings and insulation schedules as necessary to complete assigned work
  • Work conditions may include entry into restricted and confined spaces
  • Ability to interpret technical manuals, shipyard procedures, test documents, blueprints, diagrams, and perform basic layout functions.

Driller

  • Drillers are responsible for all shipboard drilling tasks for submarine mechanical components. his includes nuclear and non-nuclear shipboard work.
  • Limited shop work is included. Shipboard drilling work in the Groton Shipyard involves nearly every portion of a submarine, inside the hull, exterior, tanks and confined spaces.
  • The selected applicant must be capable of performing accurate/precise drilling utilizing portable equipment in the type of environments specified above.

Submarine Mechanic / Machinist

  • Submarine mechanics, also known as Outside Machinists, are responsible for all shipboard mechanical work that takes place in Electric Boat's Groton shipyard.
  • Tasks include on-hull machining, installation of components like pumps, valves, weapons systems, communications systems, shafting and propulsion systems, support testing of mechanical components, and much more.
  • Use skills like blueprint reading, precision measuring, fastening threaded fasteners, component layout, etc. all while complying to safety and quality standards.
  • This work is primarily shipboard, internal and external to submarine hulls

Painter

  • Painters preserve the hull and components by sealing the submarines with chemicals and paints that prevent corrosion and protect against the accumulation of marine life.
  • Prepare the surface, mix and apply a variety of paints and finishes, such as baked on plastics, vinyl, and epoxy paints.
  • Paint thickness must be measured and documented. This requirement makes it essential that the Painter maintain a high level of quality.
  • Candidates must be able to sandblast, use pneumatic tools, roll brush and spray paint.
  • Candidates must be able to perform strenuous task for long durations
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces and elevated areas.
  • Must be able to obtain respiratory qualifications and maintain them

Shipfitter

  • Working with various metals, a Shipfitter is required to interpret construction drawings with basic mathematic ability.
  • Job tasks include layout, fabrication, assembly and installation of foundations, structures, components and deck packages.
  • Individuals need to develop a working knowledge of structural weld joint fit-up/weld symbols, burning and grinding operations.
  • Work assignments will be accomplished using company drawings, test documents, technical manuals, and shipyard procedures. Work conditions may include entry in restricted/confined spaces.

Sheetmetal Worker

  • A Sheetmetal Worker is required to interpret construction drawings with basic mathematic ability. Job tasks include layout, fabrication, assembly, and installation of all light gage metalwork which includes air-conditioned ductwork, lockers, cabinets, prefabricated bulkheads, doors, furniture and Formica.
  • Work assignments will be accomplished using company drawings, test documents, technical manuals, shipyard procedures and shop machinery. Work conditions may include entry in restricted/confined spaces.

Qualifications

General Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Must be 18 years of age or older (may be a 2026 graduating high school senior)

Engineer

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering

Financial Analyst

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, Mathematics or related field
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling.

Logistics Analyst

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalency
  • 2+ years of experience in directly working in supply chain or logistics
  • Demonstrated experience in supporting process improvement initiatives

Planner

  • High School diploma or GED

Admin Clerk

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1-3 years' experience in a clerical support role
  • Must have experience with personal computers and a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access

Warehouse Material Handler

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1-5 years previous warehousing experience or a similar type of position with experience receiving, locating, segregating and issuing material
  • A good understanding of computers/tablets
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors
  • Must be able to work all shifts

Material Tech Aide

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1-5 years of experience related to the ability to read and understand detailed blueprints, drawings, specifications, disclosures and reference documents within trades, manufacturing, construction, design, production, planning, or distribution environments.
