Teaching Assistant –

Most Blessed Sacrament Early Learning Center (MBS~ELC)

Full Time | Catholic School Setting | Baton Rouge, LA

Most Blessed Sacrament Early Learning Center is seeking a caring, energetic, and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our growing program. For 40 years, MBS~ELC has served families in our parish community, providing a safe, loving, and faith filled environment where children can learn, grow, and discover their place in God’s world.

About Our Program

MBS~ELC offers a full day early childhood program for children ages 1–4. Our center provides continuity of care, allowing students to remain with the same teachers and classmates throughout the school year. We maintain low child to teacher ratios and uphold high standards of safety, communication, and Catholic identity.

Position Overview

This position reports directly to the school administration and follows all directives given by the classroom teacher. The Teaching Assistant supports the Lead Teacher in creating a nurturing, structured, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment. This role is essential in helping our youngest learners thrive academically, socially, and spiritually.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Lead Teacher with daily classroom routines and activities
  • Support children in social, emotional, and developmental growth
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment
  • Communicate positively and professionally with families and staff
  • Help implement age appropriate lessons, centers, and faith based activities
  • Supervise children during playtime, meals, rest periods, and transitions
  • Ensure children diapers are clean and dry and hands washed throughout the day
  • Uphold all MBS~ELC and Diocese of Baton Rouge policies and procedures

Qualifications

  • Experience working with young children preferred
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team oriented environment
  • Warm, patient, and dependable demeanor
  • Strong communication skills
  • Commitment to providing a loving, Christian environment
  • Must meet all diocesan and state childcare requirements (including background checks and training)
