Water Infrastructure and Operations Branch (WIOB) is part of Alberta Agriculture and Irrigation and has the mandated responsibility to operate, maintain and keep safe a $12B portfolio of provincially owned water infrastructure. The Branch also includes the provincial Dam Safety Regulator, which is responsible for implementing the Dam and Canal Saftey Regulatory Framework.

Role Responsibilities

The EIMS Support Analyst is responsible for ensuring that the systems and applications administered by the Water Infrastructure and Operations Branch (WIOB) remain fully operational, properly maintained, and aligned with user needs. This role supports the implementation, maintenance, administration, and ongoing user support of these applications, all delivered with a strong customer service focus.

Below are the Key Responsibilities:

1. Maintain and Monitor Systems and Applications
   Ensure EIMS and related systems operate reliably by performing routine checks, maintaining documentation, following GoA security and continuity policies, coordinating server and software updates, monitoring data quality, and troubleshooting issues with internal teams and vendors.
   
   
2. Provide User Support
   Respond to user requests with professionalism and clarity, document issues, deliver training, manage user accounts, run SQL queries when required, and track user requested improvements. requested improvements.
   
   
3. Contribute to Application Enhancements and Development
   Participate in or lead working groups to gather requirements, support testing and major upgrades, collaborate with managers and vendors throughout development cycles, and proactively recommend improvements to enhance system performance.
   
   
4. Support the GIS–EIMS Interface
   Monitor GIS integration, troubleshoot issues with technical teams, and configure enhancements that align with user needs and expand system functionality.

Qualifications

Requirements
A post-secondary diploma (2 years) in computer systems, information technology, or a related field, plus four (4) years direct experience with computer application support and working in a computer application testing environment.

OR

A university degree (4 years) in computer systems, information technology, or a related field, plus two (2) years direct experience with computer application support and working in a computer application testing environment.

Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:

• 1 year of education for 1 year of experience;
• or 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.
  
  

Additional Requirements

• Provide effective system support, testing, data management and project management.
• Strong problem-solving skills in order to analyze technical, complex systems inquiries; and provide solutions to address customer needs and system requirements expeditiously.
• Knowledge and experience with Oracle, PL/SQL, SQL, ArcIMS, database reporting tools, Microsoft 365, SSRS Reporting, Python, Microsoft Excel, HTML, Power BI, and programming principles, techniques, practices and logic.

Assets:

• Knowledge of water management infrastructure such as dams and canals is an asset.
• The successful candidate must have proven skills in consultation with internal and external stakeholders, conflict resolution, superior written and verbal communication skills and strong application trouble shooting skills.

• Office located in Edmonton, Oxbridge Place Building (9820-106 Street, 8th floor).
• Hours of Work: 36.25 hours per week (permanent full time).
• Monday to Friday (08:15 am-16:30 pm).
