Job Description

1. JOB PURPOSE

SHORT TERM PROJECT

The CompEx Certified E&I QC Inspector shall be responsible for ensuring the quality and compliance of Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) works in hazardous areas as per CompEx standards. The role involves inspection, testing, verification, and documentation of E&I installations to ensure adherence to project specifications, international standards, and client requirements.

2. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform quality control inspections on all Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) installations in hazardous areas as per CompEx certification requirements

  1. Verify compliance of E&I equipment, cabling, glanding, and terminations with IECEx/ATEX standards and project specifications
  2. Conduct inspections of explosion-proof equipment, intrinsically safe circuits, and pressurized enclosures
  3. Review and approve method statements, ITPs (Inspection Test Plans), and quality documentation prior to execution
  4. Perform visual inspections, dimensional checks, and functional testing of E&I systems and components
  5. Identify non-conformances, issue NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports), and ensure timely closure of corrective actions
  6. Liaise with client representatives, subcontractors, and project management to resolve quality-related issues
  7. Maintain accurate inspection records, test reports, and as-built documentation
  8. Ensure all E&I works comply with safety protocols, hazard area classifications, and client HSE requirements
  9. Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and risk assessments as required

3. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • CompEx Certification (Competency in Explosive Atmospheres) – Mandator.
  • Diploma or Degree in Electrical / Instrumentation Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as an E&I QC Inspector in oil & gas, petrochemical, or industrial project.
  • Proven experience in hazardous area inspections and compliance with IECEx/ATEX standard
  • Knowledge of international codes and standards: IEC 60079, NEC 500/505, API, ASM
  • Valid offshore medical certificate and BOSIET / HUET certification (preferred
  • Proficiency in NDT methods and inspection tools relevant to E&I system
  • Excellent communication and report-writing skills in English

4. SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

  • Technical Competence: Expert-level knowledge of E&I systems, hazardous area classifications, and CompEx requirements.
  • Quality Focus: Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of inspection quality and documentation accuracy.
  • Safety Awareness: Strong understanding of hazardous area safety protocols and risk mitigation.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to identify non-conformances and recommend effective corrective actions.
  • Documentation: Meticulous attention to detail in report preparation, record maintenance, and as-built documentation.
  • Communication: Effective coordination with clients, subcontractors, and project teams.

5. WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Industrial / offshore environment (Location: A581-701).
  • Rotational shift schedule as per project requirements.
  • Exposure to hazardous areas, harsh weather conditions, and confined spaces.
  • Strict adherence to PPE requirements, hazardous area protocols, and client HSE standards.
