Job Description

Power Drive Systems: eHW Architect- Inverter design
Location : India Propulsion Engineering Center(IPEC), Bengaluru
Masters or PhD in Power Electronics or equivalent from reputed university/institution
Experience: 6 to 9years
Job Role-Technical lead- HW architect

Major Job Responsibilities:

  • Design & Development of Inverter for HVDC 400V to 800V system.
  • Specify and analyze hardware requirements and interfaces for Inverter.
  • Inverter architecture design & key HW components selection.
  • Inverter hardware building blocks development.
  • Design and selection of core components (e.g. DC Link capacitor, Power module (Si, SiC, GaN), gate drivers, sensors, EMI filters, DC Busbars, Sensors) for Inverter hardware and optimization of designs in terms of performance, efficiency and cost.
  • Prepare hardware-software interfaces (HSIS) with coordination System & SW team.
  • Motor Control strategy (Vector,FOC,V/F etc.) and PWM switching profile for Inverters
  • Hands on Simulation/Tools e.g. MATLAB, LTSpice, Ansys tools etc.
  • Knowledge of latest inverter technology. Drive system/HW architectures and define functional building blocks for motor drives.
  • Prepare hardware design document with good understanding of schematic.
  • Understanding & support on Design FMEA, FMEDA & FTA analysis.
  • Define hardware design verification strategy an perform inverter hardware functional testing.
  • Perform Hardware troubleshooting & test report preparation.
  • Manage & lead hardware development and mentoring junior team members.

Major Job Qualifications Experience:

  • End-to-end Inverter Hardware Design & development experience of Electric vehicle high voltage converters.
  • Minimum 6+ years of experience in the development of power electronics, in-depth knowledge of inverter design, semiconductor technologies, gate drivers, DC link capacitors etc.
  • Minimum 3- 4 years experience as HW architect role.
  • Experience in inverter building block design.
  • Very good expertise in electromagnetic compatibility / EMC-compliant design.
  • Experience in Analog, Digital electronics & microcontroller-based circuit design.
  • Knowledge of SPI, I2C, CAN, LIN communication protocol.
  • Knowledge in ISO26262 – Part -4 (System level) & Hardware Functional Safety Analysis (ISO26262 – Part – 5).
  • Functional understanding of complex systems consisting of mechanics, electronics and software.
  • Experience with ECAD tools, LTSpice, Mathcad, Matlab is a plus.
  • Experience in Inverter customer/hardware requirements elicitation and validating it.
  • Good knowledge of requirement management tool (IBM Doors/Poalrion).
  • Automotive experience must.
