We are searching for the best talent for EHS Staff Expert Project Safety.

The EH&S department is recruiting for a EHS Staff Expert Project Safety colleague to support the Johnson & Johnson manufacturing site in Geel, Belgium.

Geel is largest site for small molecule API (Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients) within the J&J Innovative Medicines Supply Chain. We ensure lifesaving medicines reach the patient, safely, optimality, competitively and always. Beside production of API's, the site has a launch & grow mission for new pharmaceutical products. To accomplish this mission, we keep investing in new technologies, people, and partnerships. We work together in a dynamic environment where innovation and a 'can do' state of mind are common good.

The Geel site operates in a complex, highly regulated Seveso high-risk chemical manufacturing environment. This means that EH&S input during design, engineering, commissioning, and operational readiness is critical to ensure safe, compliant, and sustainable project execution. For one of our big investment projects. We are looking for a colleague to join us to coordinate the EH&S Design Aspect for this project.

As a Staff Expert Project Safety, you’re a member of the Site EH&S Team, you will feel the beating heart of the site. Your main focus is to coordinate EH&S aspects for API Capacity Project and advise the project team in EH&S requirement, Safety policies and practices.

If you are a detail-oriented, solution driven, collaborative and passionate about Environment, Health and Safety, and like to work with many functions and levels of the organization, then this job might be perfect for you.

You will be responsible for:

  • You guide all aspects of the EH&S Policy at various stages of the API Capacity Project at the Geel site.
  • As a generalist in the field of EH&S, you can provide advice on various areas (process safety, personnel safety, environmental issues, etc.) during design reviews. For specialized knowledge, you can reach out to various other experts.
  • You coordinate and supervise all EH&S support to the project
  • Legal commissioning and all the administration that goes with it of new or modified equipment/workplaces.
  • Support of the project teams in their actions: guidance/participation in risk assessments (incl. HAZOP, Machine Safety, JSA,…)
  • You will address as first point of contact daily related to EH&S questions, investigation, technical changes, and continuous improvement initiatives for the project team.
  • You promote a culture of continuous improvement and increase the effectiveness and efficiency of EH&S processes.
  • You participate in an on-call system in the context of internal emergency planning at the Geel site.
  • During construction, you advise the project team on operational EH&S topics.

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • You are technical bachelor or equivalent through experience.
  • You are prevention advisor level 1 or 2.

Experience and Skill

Required

  • You have knowledge and experience in the field of EH&S in a highly regulated industrial context.
  • You have experience in EH&S Commissioning and Qualification in bigger investment projects
  • You are comfortable engaging with the technical aspects of PSM.
  • You enjoy achieving results, both independently and with diverse teams
  • You can deal with people at all levels within a large and complex organization.
  • You enjoy combining high-level project follow-up with detailed field follow-up.
  • You can take initiative to achieve goals and achieve results in a timely manner. Being able to plan your own tasks in advance is therefore important.

  • You are business focused, proactive and can be a true teammate.
  • You like to work in a sophisticated and constantly evolving international environment.
  • You take initiative, are capable of accurately assessing priorities, even under time pressure and you are a decision-maker.
  • You are willing to further develop by taking additional training courses.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is:

€72’500.00 - €115’230.00
