Job Description

Nikkiso Clean Energy & Industrial Gases is a leading provider of cryogenic pumps, heat exchangers, process systems, turboexpanders, services, and solutions for the liquefied natural gas (LNG), liquefied hydrogen (LH2), and industrial gases industries. Applications include fueling stations, marine engines, peak shaving, power generation, virtual pipelines, carbon capture, geothermal power and well stimulation. The EHS Specialist position participates in and leads initiatives to provide for the safety, health, and environmental requirements of the employees. The position ensures all employees are trained in safety components relating to their position. The specialist reports to the Manager, EHS and works to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations for all employees, equipment, and operations. The role reduces workers’ compensation exposure through accident investigation and proactive accident reduction techniques.

This position reports to the Corporate Safety, Health, Environmental, and Quality Director.

Salary Range:$78,000 - $108,000

Responsibilities

  • Implements safety and accident prevention policies in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations.
  • Evaluates workplace environments, equipment, and practices to ensure compliance with safety standards and government regulations; maintains stocks of safety equipment.
  • Conducts and records safety training, and demonstrates the use of safety equipment.
  • Investigates accidents to identify cause and determine how such accidents might be prevented in the future; maintains accident and incident records
  • Serve in an advisory capacity to management and as a liaison with external agencies and internal and external stakeholders. Ensures compliance with permit requirements, , and carries out correspondence with other department/entities (internal or external) as required.
  • Represents the company in community and industry safety groups, programs, and conferences.
  • Keeps abreast of current developments of training, safety, accident prevention programs, and applicable regulations Updates internal policies and procedures as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or 5 years of equivalent education/safety experience.
  • Related safety engineering certifications.
  • Five years of safety engineering experience
  • Proactive, initiative-taking.
  • Technical capacity.

  • Strategic thinking.
  • Problem solving/analysis.

Work Environment

This job operates in a warehouse environment. This role routinely utilizes the operation of material handling equipment and various tools and machinery.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. This would require the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and work with various materials and/or tools, as well as work and bend at different heights, in various temperatures, and be on feet for an extended period of time.
