This position is responsible for coordinating critical EHS programs that support Plant activities and personnel well-being. Reporting into the Plant EHS Manager, the holder provides expertise in Occupational Health programs, including Workers Compensation, medical leave, first aid training management, medical surveillance programs, prescription safety glasses, and Incident Intervention efforts.

Essential Functions:

  • Overall ownership and program management of occupational health and emergency response programs.
  • Uses experience and knowledge to assist in the evaluation of employee care needs, prioritize treatment, leverage incident intervention programs, and maintain employee care and case flow.
  • Works with internal resources to initiate and manage employee Worker’s Compensation claims.
  • Administers and actively manages and tracks all work-related injuries/illnesses.
  • Coordinates emergency response program, including training, drilling, and updating written programs.
  • Collaborates and works closely with JM OH professionals at other JM sites, OH vendors, Workers Compensation carrier, site EHS, HR, Security, supervisors & managers.
  • Coordinator and administrator of site’ Incident Intervention program (WorkCare), ensuring the communication, operation, and improvements are continuously improving.
  • Assures First Aid/AED equipment is in working order and arranges for replacement, calibration & repair as needed.
  • Schedules or performs occupational screening tests as required (spirometry, vision, and respirator medical exams).
  • Schedules vendor for on-site annual audiometric & respirator medical exams testing.
  • Manages & schedules CPR/First Aid/AED certification/recertification classes for site First Aid Team.
  • Participates in new hire on-boarding training (new employee orientation).
  • Performs/Coordinates annual Bloodborne Pathogen training for First Aid Team.
  • Accurately documents all administered training, employee participation/completion, and forecasts needs and schedules.
  • Maintains and archives employee medical records, as they pertain to the scope listed above.
  • Develop and partner with site EHS to implement site wellness programs.
  • Maintains site OSHA 300 Log & posts annual summary, as required.
  • Other duties as assigned that include contributing to the site’s overall EHS program, initiatives, and team needs.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in EHS or related field is required.
  • At least 3-5 years’ experience in EHS or occupational health setting
  • Experience as an emergency responder (EMT/ Firefighting/ Rescue)
  • Experience with emergency services and management.
  • Knowledge and use of computer software & creating/maintaining spreadsheets
  • Practiced in program coordination, scheduling, and overall organization.
  • Knowledge of workplace health and safety concepts and OSHA regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Currently certified EMT and Fire 1.
  • Instructor in CPR/AED/First Aid/Bloodborne Pathogen through American Red Cross or American Heart Association (or willing to obtain within 6 mo).
  • Prior experience in managing Workers Compensation and FML and disability leaves.

Other Qualifications:

Occasional requirement to work flexible hours to meet on demand events and respond to incidents. Travel for training may occasionally be required.

Must be able to take ownership of above mentioned programs, work independently, as well as collaborate effectively across multiple teams and sites.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, and/or odor. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet, however areas of the facility do require hearing protection, eye protection, and foot protection.
