A Day in the Life

As an EHS Specialist in Heerlen, you will play a key role in strengthening our Environmental, Health and Safety culture across the campus. You will help shape, implement, and continuously improve EHS policies and programs that protect employees, support business operations, and ensure compliance with local regulations and Medtronic global standards.

Working closely with the local EHS team and the site Operations team, you will be the go-to expert for EHS matters on site and a trusted partner in building a safe, compliant, and engaged workplace. This is a hands-on role where your expertise, initiative, and communication skills will directly contribute to a strong safety culture. You may also support other EHS activities in the Benelux region, depending on business needs. You will report to the Senior EHS Manager and will be expected to work from the office on a daily basis.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

• Lead and support the development and implementation of core EHS programs, including warehouse safety, powered industrial trucks, emergency preparedness, and ergonomics.
• Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and Medtronic EHS standards.
• Identify, assess, and control EHS risks to prevent incidents and environmental impact.
• Support incident investigations, root cause analysis, audits, and corrective and preventive actions.
• Drive EHS awareness and engagement through reporting, meetings, newsletters, and communication initiatives.
• Serve as Prevention Advisor for the Heerlen campus.
• Provide expert EHS guidance to employees, leadership, and internal stakeholders.
• Collaborate with external authorities and auditors where required.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to a proactive EHS culture.

Required Knowledge and Experience

• A relevant EHS qualification, such as NEBOSH, an EHS accreditation, or a degree in Engineering or Science.
• Strong knowledge of EHS and risk management legislation and best practices.
• At least 2 years of experience in EHS and Prevention Advisory work.
• Experience in delivering training, presentations, or project-based work.
• Fluency in Dutch and English.
• Strong skills in Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• A structured, proactive, and collaborative working style.

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).
