Job

Thispositionis on-site and willberesponsibleforcoordinatingand executing environmental, safety, and health activitiesthat support primarily the corporate initiative in Crossfield, ABEPS plants with additional support to other plants, as required.Thisrole includesbeing directlyresponsibleforthecreation, adoption, implementation,maintenance,andimprovementofthefacilityenvironmental, safetyandhealth,as well as policies and procedures.

DutiesandResponsibilities:

  • Overseethe EHSprograms and initiates activitiesthatwillimprovethelevelofpersonnel safety and health and environmental compliance.
  • DevelopandadministerEHS trainingforallemployees(if required, includingoutsidesalespersonnel,office,etc.)
  • Follow incident management processes and conducttimelyincidentinvestigationsandensuretimelyreporting
  • Resource expert on EHS regulatory requirements, corporate policies and procedures and the and adoption into SOP’s and WI’s
  • Create and execute employee training programs to reduce operational risks.
  • Ensurethatallcorrectiveactionsandrecommendations are completed and communicated within the expected timeframe. Examples include the following incident investigation actions, audit findings, maturity assessments, and safetycommitteemeetings.
  • ReviewandupdatetheEHS policiesandproceduresinaccordancewithCompanypolicies andin compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and guidelines.
  • Maintain WHMIS and GHS requirements for hazard communication and keep MSDS current.
  • CoordinateIndustrialHygienesurveysasrequired(air,noise,ergonomics,etc.)
  • Ensure required EHS documentation is completed for all new processes, materials, and equipment including SOPs, JSA’s, and LOTOprocedures.
  • ReviewsafetyrelateddocumentsandnarrativessuchasSafetyCommitteeminutes,inspectionreports, forklift inspection checklists, accident investigation reports, and near miss reports
  • Keep records of all employee training, corrections of unsafe conditions, and dates and results of workplaceinspections.Maintain and submit documentation as required.
  • Maintainallweekly,monthly,andyearlysafetyinspections
  • Maintainallhazardousmaterialandhazardousmaterialareachecks
  • Management representative forISO 14001 / 9001 certifications
  • Overseeallyearlyupdatestothesafetyprogram,includingtheSafetyManual,InjuryIllnessPrevention Plan, Emergency Procedures Manual, and the Emergency Contingency Plan
  • Otherdutiesasassigned.

RequiredSkills/Abilities/Knowledge:

  • Minimum of valid certification for Standard Intermediate First Aid

EducationandExperience:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred in environmental science, industrial hygiene, occupational safety, engineering, or related fields. ThreeyearsprovenexperienceinEHS
  • Seven years proven experience in EHS in a manufacturing setting without a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience in Alberta and Manitoba provincial regulations and ISOstandards
  • Experience in manufacturing or chemical process environment

WorkingConditions:

  • Significanttimeisspentontheproductionfloor(60%).
  • Exposuretovaryingtemperaturesinmanufacturingenvironment.
  • MondayFriday,8am5pm.Facilitatingtrainingonothershiftsoccasionallyrequired.

TravelRequirement:

  • Regular(50%)travel
