Environmental Health and Safety Specialist

We are seeking an EHS Safety Specialist to support environmental, health, and safety operations within a pharmaceutical facility in Raritan, NJ. This role is focused on OSHA general industry compliance, injury prevention, safety training, incident investigations, and supporting a strong safety culture on the production floor.

This opportunity is best suited for candidates with manufacturing safety experience. Candidates with public safety, law enforcement, EMS, or security-only backgrounds will not be a fit for this position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA General Industry standards (29 CFR 1910) and company EHS policies
  • Perform manufacturing floor safety audits, inspections, and hazard assessments
  • Conduct incident investigations and root cause analysis; implement corrective actions
  • Maintain OSHA recordkeeping and safety documentation
  • Deliver employee safety training, onboarding, and PPE compliance programs
  • Manage and ensure compliance with environmental regulations
  • Partner with operations and maintenance teams to reduce workplace hazards and improve safety performance
  • Support Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), risk assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Monitor production processes for safe work practices
  • Promote a proactive safety culture through employee engagement and coaching

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Environmental Management, or related field with 3+ years of manufacturing safety experience

Required Experience

  • OSHA General Industry experience in pharmaceutical, production, or industrial environments
  • Experience with safety audits, incident investigations, OSHA logs, and employee safety training
  • Knowledge of industrial safety programs, PPE compliance, hazard recognition, and risk mitigation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Pharmaceutical, Manufacturing, or production facility experience
  • OSHA 30 General Industry certification
  • Experience with behavior-based safety programs or continuous improvement initiatives
