PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The purpose of this job is to support the EHS & Facilities Manager in maintaining and improving the EHS System and ensuring internal and external compliance in Environmental and Health & Safety matters.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
As a member of the EHS & Facilities Department, the EHS Specialist will perform tasks for 2 locations in Belgium.
Support the Environmental, Health and Safety Manager in EHS roles and responsibilities.
Collaborate with all departments involved to mitigate EHS risks and threats.
Actively promote the EHS culture and support compliance with corporate EHS standards and local legislation, including:
EHS Metrics: Follow-up, reporting, escalation of near misses, accidents, energy, water, and waste.
Environmental Management System (EMS): Act as steward of ISO 14001 and support compliance with corporate EMS requirements.
EDC Waste Stream Plan: First point of contact for timely waste stream pick-up and registration; support procedures and ensure conformity with waste streams and local instructions.
HEALTH AND SAFETY:
Participate in hazard identification and analysis, accident causes, and occupational disease investigations.
Support daily EHS tasks: risk assessments, contractor safety program, commissioning of new equipment, chemical substances inventory.
Perform EHS tours and workplace inspections.
Support implementation of the EDC Behavioral Based Safety (BBS) Program.
Provide periodic EHS training to all departments.
EDUCATION & COMPETENCIES
Bachelor degree or equivalent experience
Prevention advisor level II or III (or willingness to obtain certification)
Strong communication & documentation skills
Fluent in Dutch & English (written & spoken); other languages are an asset
Experience with ISO 14001 or similar management systems
Able to collaborate across departments and cultures
Analytical skills
Project management skills
Familiar with ergonomics
Strong team player and customer focus
Strong oral and written communication, including presentation skills
